My name is Milan Prša, I'm a 35 year old musician from Croatia who stumbled upon Burning Man online couple of years ago, while I had a well payed job in a big insurance company. I was going through a challenging time in my life, questioning all the big choices I've made up to that point. My wife and I have just had a beautiful baby boy and, honestly, I felt as if I tricked the little fellow into a world without future. All we could see around us was the old Ratrace: money, money, money, money... Deep inside I knew it was wrong because I was raised differently. But the world has changed a lot since the 80's. Now it's all full of irresponsible credit card holders who trade their beauty and time for a surogat online life or a supporting role in a soulless soap-opera we call the Modern Civilization. I thought that I was one of the last survivors who appreciated things that don't come with a price tag.
That's when I found out about Black Rock City. And it didn't click right away. Mostly because, in the beginning, I felt it was just a one-week SF utopia, not so different from a lot of summer festivals out there. But as time passed by, I found myself exploring more and more about Burning Man, and at the same time slowly turning my life around, bit by bit. I quit my job, pursued a career in music, distanced myself from shiny lights of modern capitaism and re-evaluated my position in the world.
I realised that no amount of money will buy a smiling father to my son. I started to change the world around me by changing my ways, one step at a time. So, here I am, ready to open up a new chapter in my life, ready to share my love, knowledge and ideas with you, guys.
And I want to start my experience on ePlaya by thanking each one of you, from Larry and the first burn on that Pacific beach to the guy who cleaned up the last bit of MOOP this year for contributing.
You are all responsible for releasing a troubled soul from its cage half a world away. Thank you.
