It's not a moral judgement about living your life honestly - It's about being as fucking squeaky clean as you can while you have a PO on your ass!

The only "mischaracterization" is that you think you were simply "seeking permission to leave the state," rather than seeking means and advice to self-admittedly lie to your PO about where you're really going -- lying that, if caught, could have drastic consequences on your sentence and record for a crime you were given a light sentencing for. These aren't things to take lightly. So yeah, I think the interconnection of these two incidents, and your rationalization of your motives (for an event you've already attended 9 times straight no less), characterizes your life quite a bit. Maybe you should shape up.

After all, we haven't asked any nosy, morally superior questions about why the fuck you were driving drunk.

I have a family member on probation in Colorado for something worse than your DUI, and she got to leave the state more than once.

Dont tell a half truth or a lie. I was on probation (years ago) and I went to Jamaica for a week. I didnt ask or tell and my PO had no reason to ask me about it, so it was never known about. You just have to be on your best behavior to stay out of trouble, and make sure your system is clean when you return back to such office. Its not what you do, its when and how you do it! xoxoxo

Good Luck. i hope you are able to attend )'(

We had two members with us in 2011 who were on probation out of state. Both were granted with full disclosure: They were going to Burning man. (well supported)

I'm thinking that if you show up with a portfolio of what you'll be doing there.... Ranger, Story Portal, Temple... it will show that you're not just going to get high. Alot don't. ALOT! What you want to do is all exemplary stuff that might well get his attention in a good way.

I wouldn't mess with anything less than the full truth on this were I in your shoes. Any parole officer worth his salt knows exactly where you're going given the timeframe.

Not to worry.
He was stressed over prepping for his usual BRC participation and another special project he was making for the playa, when he suddenly remembered probation, panicked and made a few knee-jerk OMG posts while he digested where he was. As he said, he's an out-loud thinker.
Once he got past the OMG! and looked objectively at where he was, he was fine.
In PMs with me he was quite clear that he was going with, and was 'much more comfortable' with, truthful disclosure 'than with lies of omission or commission'.

wannaberavin:
It's different from your 'years ago', or perhaps his state. He can't just go because it doesn't come up in conversation with his P.O.. He has to ask and receive permission to leave the state, as he'd already done successfully for business trips.

... but don't harm the red dragon that frequents the area from time to time. He and I have an agreement.

A little off topic here so first my apologies. I've been looking everywhere to find where Story Portal is placed this year.
