intelligent discourse between people is now mental jack-off according to the great sage badger? Whatever man, I can't help thinking you're still bitter because I called you on being fascistically politically correct in your demand that I not talk about a real issue that involved race. Sigh. Apparently you've decided I'm your adversary?
in general, i don't like political hesaidshesaiding getting in the way of more fruitful discussions.
I continue with this unpopular (to some, there have been some 200 viewings) thread, because maybe I'm imparting some information to someone who wouldn't otherwise hear it, like about how Bustamante is a member of a racist group because the liberal media won't cover it. And anything that can't be soundbited in 30 seconds or less on television might as well not exist. There is a tyranny of the uninformed majority out there, and I feel the only way to counter it is to pass along this information in the hopes that it will be shared with friends, family, etc. And what's your definition of "more fruitful discussions" anyway? Seems to me this is an absolutely critical discussion for Californians.
But I'm not the least bit interested in discussing specific political situations here for a number of reasons. . . if I want news or political analysis, there are many more factual and logical news sources than the eplaya available on the internet. . .
And do these sources allow people to discuss these issues? Or are they "news" sources, where we are relegated to the status of spectator while being fed someone else's opinion?
it is not my belief that endless online debates will change a staunchly clutched opinion. . . and in general, a purposefully inflammatory thread title like this one, just leaves me cold.
One man's inflammatory is another man's interesting. And I feel it's accurate, in that to my knowledge a court has never stopped an election in America before, and it's worth getting upset over and pointing out that this is the kind of thing we EXPECT to see from some 3rd world dictatorship, but not here.
And finally, there are plenty of threads, and you have full control over which ones you read. You don't have to see it if you don't want to. You don't have to click on it. So what is your true purpose in posting these snide comments that this thread is so _____? To make yourself feel superior? Like the person who watches porn (under the guise of research of course) and then criticizes it and those who partake of it?
