1st time Burner seeking one ticket!

Postby SanFranciscoNativegirl » Mon May 27, 2013 6:33 pm

Hello friends! My name is Kelsey, a true San Francisco native wanting to burn for the first time this year. I've had my reservations in the past, but am fully ready to pop my cherry this year! The time is right, but have given my ticket to someone else in desperate need. Anyone out there know of an extra ticket floating around to help this true karma believer in need? I'm aware of the OMG tickets in August. Just thought I'd throw it out there :)
Nice to meet you; and I hope to see you on the playa !

It's always important to prioritize those "true" San Francisco natives rather than those damned San Francisco immigrant-gypsy-squatters who pollute the city and steal BM tickets with their wicked ways.

The OMG is a good idea. Make sure you're in STEP, too.

What tribe are you part of? I've seen very few natives in San Francisco. How do you feel about your people being forced onto reservations while white folks run around and claim they're from a place?
believe it or not every burner from new york doesn't reside in the chity. there's all this green space up north you may've heard about

the burn didn't blow my mind. it reinforced the way i've always lived my life

Hmm, that got me curious, so I looked up who were the original natives in the San Francisco region. It appears the natives were of the Ohlone people. They were never put in reservations like other tribes, but instead were mostly affected by the Spaniards there, notably the Spanish missions that went on at the time, with all the disease and culture shock that came with them. Later, immigration to California further diluted the populations in addition to low birth-rates and high death-rates.

The OP would need to be one of about 1,400 Ohlone people who claim membership in the tribe.

It's also possible that the OP wasn't being literal, and just meant that she was a person born in SF. That may not sound like much, but SF's one of those towns where most of the residents come from somewhere else (myself included).

When I was growing up, something like 50% of the people who lived in California weren't born there. In my family of six we were born: Frankfort, Germany; Buffalo, New York; Syracuse, New York; Hamburg, Germany; Austin, Texas; and Berkeley, California...
If you move here young enough you still count as a native.

It is also quite possible that the replies to the OP were not being literal either.

I'm definitely just someone who was born in San Francisco. Didn't think my username would get such a rise out of people! Thanks for the responses that were friendly :)
