What about a Passive solar type system*. Two gray Water buckets with lids painted black, set them out in the sun all day, and then move them into the trailer before you go out at night, cover them with a blanket and keep them from too much direct contact with the Floor. When you finally stumble home your blankets will be warm. most of the heat in the Buckets has been saved by insulating them will begin to radiate and will continue through the night.

* oh, just pick an orbit! I really don't care, not that it would matter if I did...

Sadly, no. But I have red footie pajamas with robots, black ones with skulls, and green ones with snowmen, and--worn with bunny ears, bunny tail and huge high-steppin' bunny feet--I cannot be STOPPED. *dances like Flavor Flav*

I started out for camping one Sat. The rest of the gang had left Fri. When I got to them..A storm had gone through the night before.. every one was soaked and so was there equipment.. We dried out as much as we could and split up my camp gear between all of them.. I ended up with small pup tent and a sleeping bag. The sleeping bag was for kids over nighter in a living room. Another storm was on it's way..( here is how to stay warm and dry with less) First trench a V around your tent.. Dig out under the tent about four inches down and the size of you body.. If your sleeping bag is not warm enogh.. Cut the bottom off a large trash bag.. Slide it over the sleeping bag to shoulder.. Take another trash bag and pull it onto the bottom of the sleeping bag.. Fold you coat for a pillow.. Remove your outer cloths ans stuff them in the opening on ether side of your coat/pillow.. Put some thing warm on your head.. Snuggle in for a nights sleep.. Do not fart.. IT'S DEADLY

This is cool. Now - a use for all those old toasters with one element burned out that I've been hoarding and my partner has been begging me to throw away.

Vindication!

I noticed that the notations in the corner said that it uses 31amps of power.

a 100ah battery will run that for about an hour and a half, then you will have to recharge your battery.

Yep. I use a 20* double bag and I'm always comfortable. It not sleeping that's cold, for me, it's the time between sundown and that comfy bed, that can be a bitch.
Good fleece, a windbreaker, long underwear - silk or polypropylene, yes even wool blends - Uggs work well. Layers, not made out of cotton. Bring some light gloves.

It's tough when flying in. Synthetics are light and can be compressed. Chemical heat packs can be useful.

Oh, and don't walk. Dance all the way...

The toaster heater is an interesting gadget, but it sucks. A 400 watt electric heater is too weak to do much good, but plenty powerful enough to drain a battery in no time.

Its not that bad but some nights do have a chill to them. But if you are camping in a
tent no matter how cool it got. You have only 30 minutes or so before you wake
up in a sauna due to the sun hitting your tent. But thats one of the charms of this place.

I'm a natural heater as well - The Boyfriend just snuggles close when he gets cold. Sadly my newest playa snuggle is also a heat generator, so we ended being a little overly warm last year. I'll keep him close in case it does actually get cold this year.

My favorite trick is to throw a chemical handwarmer into my bed before I get in it. They come in pairs so, one for my feet and one for my tummy, snuggle snuggle... Clocks that might be just enough extra heat, for 50 cents a day. 8)
