I've never heard of one. Burning Man is a do-ocracy, so it might be up to you to form that camp. (Note: The deadline to apply for placement has passed, so you'd have to carve out a place for yourself in non-theme camp areas).

There are Republicans at the event, although the percentage of folks who would want to camp based on political affiliation might be small. (The default world already provides many opportunities to be political.)

The Black Rock City census in 2012 said:

Percent of eligible voters who VOTED in at least one of the last four federal US elections
83% (80% – 87%)

Political party affiliation among eligible voters
Democratic: 34% (30% – 38%)
None: 33% (26% – 40%)
Republican: 24% (18% – 29%)
Other: 3.5% (2% – 5%)
Green: 1.5% (< 1% – 2.2%)

Speaking personally, I think political party affiliation is a sad way to choose one's campmates, but that's just me. I'm sure there are plenty out there who would think the way my campmates and I do things is ridiculous - it all balances out :) There are so many camps (both registered and unregistered), and so many different ways to band and group together. If that's something that's important to you, go for it.

I remember that a few years back some twit one was talking about his libertarian/republican camp where you could come by for cigars and ... well, I'm not sure if it was brandy or whiskey. I have no idea what it was called, so I'll call it Camp Veblem.
Now tribe is dead. I have no idea if the camp still exists. If that's what you want to do with your time, do it.

And just for the record, Emergency Polka Camp is not republican. Maybe it was in the fifties, but not now.

Oh well, cigars & cognac? Well, that might be a good camp name, even though I don't use either one.
But comfy chairs would be nice.

Interesting issue...when one looks at the "Ten Principles" objectively, one could argue that they encompass both liberal and conservative schools of thought...maybe even right down the middle of the road.

As a conservative leaning citizen, I find little about the Burning Man culture and it's principles that conflict to any great extent with my own core conservative values...AAMOF, I daresay that Burning Man is more supportive of conservative values IMHO...as always YMMV...

Yeah . . . you did. :D

We need to put this quote on the front page of ePlaya, in burning letters 10 feet high. Well, maybe just bright red, because I'd hate to melt the inside of my monitor.

Interesting. I'm about as political as it gets, but I have never, ever had a thought to have any sort of political conversation on the playa. I think BM transcends politics. Or maybe it just causes me to transcend politics.

I have no desire for anything political while on the playa. but, it strikes me that burning man is more anarchist than liberal or conservative. But i'm probably biased, being a contrarian agorist voluntaryist myself.

Yeah...about as much anarchy as one would expect to see in any major metropolitan city on May Day...which in Black Rock City is just as highly frowned upon.

Smash or burn someone's art on the playa and see what it gets ya...

It's far from anarchy.

More of a weird combination of "benevolent dictatorship" (rules are made with minimal input from participants, "rulers" are chosen by those already in power, lots of police, expectation for participants to follow state & local laws, city infrastructure designed and controlled by the "rulers" except in the outlying areas - and even there streets must be recognized) and libertarianism (you need to bring everything you need for survival - and fun - to your "property", except in rare cases nothing is provided by the "state", internal organization is up to the property "owners", no safety regulations for structures).

Basically, there are general City rules (plus State & Federal laws), but other than that you're pretty much on your own.

ZOMG ANARCHY!!!

ok.. but no..when you finally come to find the way it is.. it's shocking (ok no, not really shocking at all).

but yeah, far from anarchy... its just some business running a festival.. in a way that eric describes..

but the idea of it being some free for all is, kind of, not the reality[1].. considering all of the organization/bureaucracy involved within, and outside of the LLC/burning man (state/govt..police/healthdpt) itd be hard for it to have any REAL anarchy.

they at least want a bit of a look at fire art.. and to control the vehicles that get to move around at the dmv.. and to spread out dozens of 'rangers' to 'mediate' problems before they turn in to bigger problems, or to just be around if Some Shit happens.... plus ya got yer avg joes around to calm down anything too crazy.

perhaps in private areas people do some silly amazing illegal dumb anarchic things, but im guessing people will do those things whether its some ANARCHY situation or not..

We need the camp only for democrats next to the republicans camp, then the libertarians next to them, then the independents and the green party next to them...then set up stadium seating and watch the fun ensue.
