O Ygmir, old buddy, so sorry for your loss. :(
I'm impressed by your eloquence. It hurts so, but we must move on somehow...

It would have been my wedding anniversary last weekend. It wasn't that long ago. I just stayed busy.

Julia, I was hoping to find you..just not this way. I saw your mug shot on my computer screen, and my heart sank. I can only remember you, when you were laughing, and happy. I miss you!

One of the jewels of the Burlesque world (Bay Area, national & international), Sparkly Deville died in a car crash last night. I had the pleasure of working with and photographing her when she performed at our club, she was an amazing talent, and one of the centers of the community I belong to. I only had a professional acquaintance with her, but this has devastated a lot of people I care for.

As a friend put it: Rest In Power, Sparkly. You will be missed.

I agree completely. Sadly, it doesn't make the loss any easier, as you know. If anything, it makes it harder, because now we have to wonder "what if" all the time. Ugh.

I agree with Catman - there were fewer choices back then -3 networks, and, depending on your market, maybe a couple independent stations, unlike the hundreds now - so the reach of each show was magnitudes greater. While there might be great programs now, they do not come close to being the cultural touching-points that everyone knew, and not just names of shows, people knew what was happening in them. They were also on free tv, unlike a lot of the modern shows. I've never seen most of the current "greats" because we only pay for basic cable - I don't get AMC, or Showtime, or HBO, and I have no desire to toss money at Comcast to get them. Never seen Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad... don't feel left out of any conversations because of it.

Today there are great shows, back then there was great TV.

Eyefull flipped his Porsche on a stupidly designed corner less than a mile from where I live. Probably trusted it too much. You are and will be missed.

I am still sad about EyeFull. He didn't need to be the one to meet Death that day. He was only 46.

Me: Death - what happened?
Death: Shit happens.
Me: Crap.

I was supposed to meet him today for our weekly (or so) pottie meeting. <sigh>
TO EYEFULL! <raises beer glass>

Slim Whitman did save us from the Martians however.

A fine set of men who will be missed.

And another raised beer glass to Edith - She showed us how to be kind.

I saw the story on the news, the picture of her was taken at Burning Man, with the Man very clear in the background. I did not know her, but I sobbed like I'd lost my own kin.
