When in Rome, do as the Visigoths did.

They received the same bad publicity that the Indians did. :)

Merciless barbarian killers? Oh, yeah, when Romans aren't busy enslaving us and making us build their empire for them. Then you're shocked when we storm the walls of the fort, er, castle...

What's in your wallet?

so what i'm gathering from this thread is that no one should ever wear anything that is not strictly related to their own personal heritage.

i'm not irish in any way that i know of, so green on st patrick's day is out. no lederhosen for oktoberfest.

no kilts for me. nor pashminas. nor turbans.

lest i be branded disrespectful

no matter. i can rock the hell out of this zulu outfit
Image

thing is i've no idea what part of africa my people are from.... so it's probably best i just go naked

which is what i was gonna do anyhow so yay

IMO, just the opposite!
wear whatever the hell you want! Smile, dance, have fun.
Happy trumps grumpy.
No matter what you do, someone, will take offense, laugh, whatever.
foog'em.
It's YOUR BURN, no one elses. They have their own.
Do WTF you want, wear WTF you want.

I'd much rather spend hours with laughing, dancing, happy folks, in inappropriate, non PC costume, than a bunch of anal retentive grumps, judging and decrying the disrespect because someone else is having fun in "their" garb.

actual fighting, Viking type swords were (arguably) not real sharp. a super sharp edge will bend on bone and also get stuck, not to mention hitting other weapons or shields. They/some depended on the devastating power of that much weight to cut and crush.

and, reloading/resharpening........if you're out of bullets, your out of bullets.....

the "ammo" for sword play is the strength of the arms wielding it.... and i'm sure after a certain amount of swinging you're going to run into fatigued shoulders arms and wrists
ever do an intense upper body set at the gym? you come away from it feeling like you can't lift your arms over your head

Unless I have a squire assisting me, it takes quite a while to reload my sword after playing with it

SPEAKING OF 'BULLETS'

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Omega_Glory

remember that star trek episode with the people living some quasi american life? with our constitution ? that was weird.. wasnt it... kirk teaching the people what our constitution meant..
Image

"Liberty and freedom have to be more than just words."
- Kirk

anyways, theres a part in it when captain tracey talks about killing a buncha alien people.

Image

They sacrificed hundreds, just to draw us out in the open. And then they came, and they came. We drained four of our phasers, and they still came. We killed thousands and they still came.

ive always thought that was interesting.. 4 phasers, thousands of people?!

amazing!

anyways, back on topic.
