It depends upon the job, Yggy. Mostly though I'm interested in learning to use the tools and developing the skill set. Despite the headaches it really is a lot of fun, as much as making stuff for the playa. And the stuff I do for SL actually has a larger audience. The apps and computers cost money (as do any other tools), and then from there imagination's the limit. No need to hit lumber yards or hardware stores or steel mills. Good luck with the truck!

Enjoy the day off, MDF, and your museum field trip, Marty! Elliot, I agree with Nipple, you're getting off easy. The fanatical vegans I know would have a much stronger reaction, and generally seem to enjoy making omnivores miserable hehe. And on that note, I think it's time to break for lunch.

yeah Elliot:
the "chip" also controls trans shifting and such....like the old "shift kits" we used, but done by on board computer.
I tell ya, when the computer stuff works, it's amazing on newer vehicles. as of now, this extended cab, 3/4 ton 4x4 diesel truck weighing about 7 K lbs, get 20 mpg.

*hesitates to suggest Elliot eat his veggies*

I'd love to see what you do, there, Trilo. I actually have, or had, a SL account, but got hammered by an eplayan, there, who made it not fun.

HI MDF! hah yeah, there's the start of a good joke.

ha! AntiM: with a 26' peak in the middle of the room, stripper/fire pole could be cool! might chafe if you started at the top though.

so here's a conundrum, I'm dealing with:

The "State" wants me to take out a liability policy, to do the repair work they've offered me.
I've not needed one in the past.
So I call the insurance broker, and he says "sure" and calls back with a quote.
then calls back and says: "The underwriter wants you to be licensed"
"well" says I " there is no license, from the "state" given or available, for making or installing monuments.
The broker says "Let me see what I can do".
I explain I'm 3 rd. generation, having 35 full years of experience, myself, let alone as a kid and family.
And, being the only one that even the state historian could find (it's how I got on the state job stuff), there's no one who could test me, anyway.
He chuckled and said "sorry" .............

now what? I guess I walk away from that work? dang.

thoughts?

Catch 22, Yg! Maddening! Strip club in Medford. Hmmmmm More bettah the tons of great theater in Ashland and the great arts and crafts that abound in the region. Saw the Rembrandt exhibit yesterday at the DeYoung. The etchings are incredible. The detail is so perfect and, well, detailed. Images so "photo realistic" The expressive facial expressions conveying a wide range of moods and emotions in vivid reality. Really amazing. One thing I did see was an etching entitled "Land Yacht" Could have been a Playa Mutant Vehicle. The Bouquets for Art flower arrangements were very creative and I thought that Burner's liberating effect on art had touched many of these wonderfully imaginative pieces. If you are in the Bay Area, try to get to this exhibit. It is really terrific.

Good news about the road to the Hof. We can soon get started on AntiM's stripper pole up there!

Yay, it is Friday!!!!!

Cheers

Moin Moin!
well there is snow on the ground. and I'm pretty sure spring done sprung. blech. I guess In a way it makes me happy knowing that this just adds to the snow pack up in the Mts and means a longer melt season, higher water tables, less fire risk and better fish runs. on the downside it turns every idiot in the media into a meteorologist or a global warming alarmist.

*saunters in, sets cognac out*
Image

spent hours working my way up through a bureaucratic web of insurance offices......
finally got to a person, who realized, or at least understood, that if there is no license to be given, I can't be expected to have one.
and, in one fell swoop, my coverage doubled, and the premium dropped in half!

So now, as long as the state contract gal says it's ok, I'm back rollin!! yay!

sure did test my patience, and ability to be polite in the face of (fucking stupid/uncaring/uninterested), not to mention my sense of humor, trying to crack a joke or two along the way.

Also learned a lesson in a different arena:
when you're prepping an engine, to come out of long term storage/sitting, and you remove the spark plug, and fill the cylinder with naptha, ATF, and lacqueur thinner.........don't lean on the belt drive, not thinking that without the spark plug, there is no compression, and therefore no resistance to the piston coming up on the compression stroke, blowing said concoction up my nose, and in my eyes, as I was balancing on one foot, 4' above the concrete slab littered with tools, wood block and chunks of randomly cut steel and granite.

I felt somewhat like Rocket J. Squirrel, on the edge of the snowball............
