Beautiful !
Used to have theatre drapes of yellow velvet, but this downsizing stuff keeps shorting all projects.
Keep on with progress reports Knowmad.

I know of some hanging beds.
I was told to stagger the upper hang points slightly outward.
If they're adjustable, you can adjust the stability, or pitchiness, if that matters to you.

We made some stuff out of hammock frame.
Low grade, but very hard chinese steel.
Perfect for this.

Cool idea.

ok, so this may be the final test. All oven and smoker temps went where hoped, I think mainly due to being inside, and out of the wind and rain. Top polished and accepted bluing/patina fine.

Is that huge smoker box being held up only by the two smoke pipes? I spose they're damned thick pipes, but still seems like a ton of weight.

it's a smoke plenum on the far left, a smoker oven center (handle, left) and a baking oven right (handle, right) 1/4" steel boxes, 1/2" steel doors,
the pipe to the left, is 8" dia. 3/8 wall steel, one 10" inside the other, then, two 1X1X1/4" thick angle iron legs (center) and then a stove pipe to send heat to the ovens.

Nice Progress on the Stove Ygmir. I have a few Questions about the Baking oven. Do you have Some Sort of Additional Thermal Mass inside if it? Fire Bricks? Slab of Granite? and have you thought of the Idea of a closed loop Dense Liquid heat exchanger with a large reservoir on top and a smaller one in the fire box?

I have the Trampoline frame, (cloth is rotted out) and the large post's. I'm going to use an old tent for the fly, but am also looking into finding some old drapes.
I'll keep ya posted.
Well, I now have Two More Trampoline hoops. And am trying to Modify my Idea. If only Lycra was Cheaper more forgiving to sew I'd make A large hanging Lantern to climb into.
I also have at my disposal 2 inch PhiberOptik Conduit (a few hundred feet) and am thinking of making a Few of them(as lanterns). Fabric is the Question.

After overthrowing a near by kingdom, I'm stuck with some plunder that I dragged back!

Wondered if Yg could use some thrones at the Hof.

I know he can find a use for the stocks!

Won't know what all is in there till I start unloading, but there are some banner/flag things that you can drive into the ground then the flag pole slides into some 2" rings that are welded on. 8)

good ones FJ.
we, at our camp, are trying to come up with a design that's easy, but keeps our street sign/address intact after Friday. Sort of a pet peeve how people steal the signs starting about then.

I did'nt see the sign.

Do you need to change the lettering at any point?

What dimensions?

With all the types of steel you have around your place, I'm thinking a steel pole with a round plate welded to the bottom.

Drill 4 holes in the plate and run four 5/8"x24" lags through those down into the playa.

I know I can't get mine out without unscrewing them. (I can't pry them out and mine are only 3/8"x14")

If you don't have to change the letters, get 2 pieces of plate the size you want your sign, cut the lettering on both pieces at the same time.

Weld them to the top of your post, leaving a gap between the signs.

In the gap, back each sign with some white plexi.

Stuff a string of solar LEDs in the gap and mount the little panel to the top.

It will be one hellava sign that is even lighted at night!

Easier if you leave out the lighting, but it would'nt be that hard and would look really cool! 8)

I think it would take close to an hour to unscrew those lags without power tools, and you'll need an impact or roto hammer to install or remove easily.

I have forgotten the logic behind it, probably has to do with oil spills and paint deterioration.

found this:http://www.uscg.mil/history/docs/uscg_p ... s_1935.pdf

"Uncovered steel decks and flats in workshops (enclosed workshops) and machinery spaces generally, shall be kept bright and polished; areas around the boundaries and those parts not used as walking areas may be finished in light-gray boot-topping (formula no. 4). Similar decks and flats in magazines and -handling rooms shall be finished in white. The boot-topping specified above shall be applied over a priming coat of red lead, and the boot-topping should be kept touched up so that at all times there is an equivalent of two coats of boot-topping on such decks."

I know that Publication well! And the one day class that I had to attend as part of Deck Division. Ygmir the Very first sentence is the limiter. Uncovered steel decks... It then goes on to explain how painted decks are to be boot-topped. of course none of this has relevancy on a Submarine most of our decking was mesh walkways. They were just kept meticulously clean. I don't know how it would be on a repair ship such as ED was on.

After wrestling Ygmir's "Octopus jumper cables of death" (trained and contained now) and not being able to keep the front tire on the ground with 6 bags of ice on the back, I found a way to get 80 pounds redistibuted to the front wheel which only had about 10 pounds on it before.

With the new option, it is now the "Swiss Army Kamikaze Ashtray" or SAKA for short!

100% more chance of explosion, sparks, and bodily injury!!!

Get to warn/threaten people (depending on my mood).... "GET OUT OF THE WAY SAKA!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

More space for "junk in my trunk" and no more wheely hazard!
