Bank Robbery Suspect Sought, no joke

Postby Elliot » Fri Mar 08, 2013 6:58 pm

.
This is a "very Open Discussion" topic, yes, but important. Since many of us live in the San Francisco Bay and surrounding Areas, perhaps someone among us can help. Please look at these two photos:

Image

Image

This man robbed two banks near me in Lake County in the last week, and is believed to have robbed a number of North Bay banks previously.

If you recognize this man, please telephone the Lake County Sheriff’s Office at
707-263- 2690, or contact the police department of your choice.

Thank you.

Now back to our regularly scheduled Happy Stuff, in progress.

Don't know about San Francisco. But it sure does not happen often up here in rural Lake County. Up here, crime is mostly two drunken bums fighting over an ugly woman.
This suspect matches the description of a man who has robbed several banks in the North Bay, which means a large area north of the Golden Gate Bridge.

And nothing about him in today's news.

Judging by his hooded appearance in the second picture, he might even be the one who murdered a convenience store clerk up here seven weeks ago. But, I suppose a dark hood is pretty much a dark hood. They would have to compare his gait and such.

.
The bank robber has been identified as 23 year old Joshua James Metoxen of Napa, CA. He is still on the loose and must be considered armed and extremely dangerous. Call 911 if sighted.

No. This is actually one of the few truly sincere threads on ePlaya. If you desire an apologize for this aberration, I happily offer it. I simply loathe the very concept of armed robbery. For more lighthearted news, see the Bar thread.

(And Joshua James Metoxen is currently "worth" a great deal more than $5,000.)

Never associated Lake County with the Bay Area - or really even being Bay Area adjacent. This is the second reference to said Geography.

Does it really go down like that?

I used to cross through Lake County to avoid the Bay Area ... for traffic reasons, love the Bay.

It's like dropping a pebble in a lake. How far do you care to watch the rings spread?

As an example, Craigslist has a list for "S.F. Bay Area", and then you can narrow your search to a handful of sub-areas, such as North Bay. Within those sub-areas, posters can show an even more exact location, and "Lake County" is one of those.

See, I'd figure a Bay Aryan would defend the definition more closely. I recall some folks from the far east Bay - think Contra Costa - receiving eye rolls at their claim of Bay Area residency. :)

Rural bank robberies may be more common than urban ones. That was the impression I got living in No Cal, at least.

wtf? I'd say San Francisco, Alameda, CoCo, Marin, San Mateo and Santa Clara as the inner bay area, with Solano, Sonora, Santa Cruz and maybe more as the outer bay area. Lake is a stretch, but I think it makes a lot of sense in a Craigslist grouping, which tend to be centered on places with more population and then working out. There isn't really another metropolitan area that lays a stronger claim to Lake, except maybe Sacramento. The Bay Area's gravitation pull may simply be stronger.

That's likely the case.

I had a friend from Danville that would get push back for Bay Area residency claims.

Malcontent. Hippie or not I'd definitely admit to being malcontent.

Really, How can one really be content living in a world where we must justify our existence by laboring for someone else's profit? One week out of the year in imaginary land where everything is freely given for the sake of giving help keeps me sane and provides hope that the world doesn't actually have to be the way it is. I am an idealist, my beliefs don't mesh we'll with those of the realist, but I know it can be different. I have seen it.

A world based on giving is entirely possible, unfortunately there are some amazingly 'powerful' influences keeping it the way it is. I might be malcontent but its because I dream that we were all meant for bigger and better things. And the hippie part, well I bathe way more often than any Varangian would have ever...

Pointing out the catch 22 in hippies like me buying a shit ton of gas to get to the burn doesn't justify the crimes committed by the asshats who run the oil companies. That necessary evil crap is a crutch for the a-pathetic.

Are you content? Or is it apathy?

But it does pay for the champagne while I stay up late trying to get first crack at some playa shifts.

and as such, yay for being malcontent, and a hippie, or not.

I see nothing wrong with being unhappy with how things are.
I do, though, disagree that it justifies taking something that does not belong to you. endangering others in so doing, and this sense of "entitlement" so many take, when seeing someone or some company that is "successful"........."oh, they can afford it" and thereby justify theft.

no one forces you to work for someone elses profit: don't like it? go find a spot in outback "somewhere" and carry your water from a stream and plant your garden.
or, weave rasta hats and sell them on the corner.

you choose to work for others, because it's easy, and, more profitable than selling widgets from a cart or washing cars.

The world needs idealists. They drive the things thought "impossible". I get that.
But, if you think human nature, would ever allow a society where everything is a "gift", I believe you are delusional. Humans don't work that way. Yeah, for a week, even two, sure.

Can it be better? depending on POV, yeah.
But, P.T. had it right.

all that said, "two wrongs don't make a right" seems to apply.
you don't know, that bank robbed (reference for your original post) was not a small town bank, treating the customers well, and genuinely hurt by said theft.

I wish you a good burn, dreamer, for you're not the only one.
