2013 Uk Burners flights

Postby 5tan » Tue Feb 12, 2013 2:07 pm

Hi all just thought I would share what I had found regarding flights.

I have booked mine but may have been a bit hasty with it

I got a direct virgin flight to Las Vegas return for £760 through dial a flight
After a bit of battering between them and the flight centre

Going out from heathrow @ 11am on 23rd arrive Las Vegas 9am on the 23rd

Just thought this may help as a comparison for people to use when booking.
And may even get you a better deal in wich case you can share your savings and get me a pint at the airport bar :-)

Hope it helps let me know what happens good luck

Stan

Did you choose Vegas because you have an RV rental there, or possibly because you just want to see Vegas? (Vegas is worth seeing, but it's an 8 hour drive from the playa.) It's not my business exactly; I'm just curious.

(Reno is 2 hours from the playa.)

Doing a quick Kayak search using your same dates (I assumed Wed, Sept 4 for return), I found a R/T ticket for £681 on US Airways using same dates and airports. Sure.. direct and Virgin > US Airways with one stop.. but that's a good savings. I did find your same flights for £774.. so looks like your source was slight better by a few dollars.

Use Kayak though, too. Great way to search flights. They even have a price tracking feature now, too.. and for exact flights.. which shows your Virgin fare to be a "wait" call with 81% certainty as the price dips to $800-ish if you're patient.

I tried kyak before booking and it came back at over £800 I even called virgin direct and they couldn't match a price on there own flight.

The main reason I booked when I did was because I didn't want to do what I did 3 years ago.
That was get a BM ticket then loose my job and not afford flights.
so I have done the opposite this time and got all flights and acom sorted before ticket go on sale

Strange.. but that could be from your dates, too. I show Thursday return to be the cheapest but Fri/Sat/Sunday to be pretty jacked.

That could be the rason I fly out on the 6th which I bealive is. Friday it was a little cheaper a day before and a couple of days after but them dates didn't fit with what was achevable on my budget.

I'm just glad a dream of many years will become a big reality in 6months :-)

that sounds like a LOT of cash for flights to vegas

had you waited a while and kept checking i think you could have got a return flight from UK to vegas for £500 but whats done is done

have done the vegas - burning man route a few times at this stage, and i know im stating the obvious but vegas to burning man is a huge difference and a bit of a culture shock... i think vegas then burning man is a OK option but i am not sure how much you will want to go back there after burning man, id suggest going to san fran or somewhere more chilled out after the burn but thats just my 2cents
have fun man :)
