Sorry I was a little vague as to what I meant

Hopefully this clears things up :)

No, I did recognize the reference, just didn't know how to apply it. I guess you're suggesting that I don't actually mind those lovers who ate me if I was careless.

 I think it is best we go back to talking about boots or socks or anything else
I thought the Crypto in you may have mis-interpreted me and perceived something negative in my statement

as how best to apply it, id say two hands behind my head would work just fine :P

Now how many socks is it  I should bring..... Moving swiftly on to foot cloth.....discuss

at least two pair, per day*.
Make certain that they're taller than your footwear...

I also like the 2 pairs per day standard.

I don't buy super thick socks in a bag, but I do like the thinner ones that are almost 100% cotton, with a single-digit dab of spandex for fit. They fit better under everything.

I do a pair a day, plus some spares. Haven't ever needed a second pair - however, I sleep in an RV with no socks on. It may be different for tent camping.

Definitely agree on the single digit of spandex, though.

I've been wearing Chuck's since day 1. Great all around shoes! If you want to search a little harder, but pay about the same...These Israeli commando boots have the added bonus of a serious sole.

Thank you Tom, I've now put Israeli Army Boots on my to-get list this year (support would be nice, I'm getting old here...).

Now if I could just get a hot Israeli to bring them to me (but his sister is trying to keep me away from him. Boo)

No Problem Eric. NOW! Has anyone seen a pair of these at your local Surplus Store?? Been searching for quite some time, and haven't found them anywhere!(in size 11 that is) They're Israeli Commando Scout...or Skorpion..or something boots. I remember in the 80's and 90's, when you could find them..we called them Vegan Assault Boots. anyone?

Israeli High Commando Boots. Or Israeli Palladium style boots. The high high tops are almost impossible to find with the Buckles...unless you live in Bakersfield. Newer ones are Velcro upper strap with side zipper. Or, if you want an assortment of colors, for a lot more $. Just check out the Palladium website. www.palladiumboots.com

I broke my Sh*t laughing when I opened the site and saw they have an Irish site
Thanks Tom for heads up, slightly embarrassed
They are a bit expensive considering where I'm bringing them but might be worth the investment considering they seem to be what I'm looking for.
I'll still bring my chucks though, comfort trumps all else :)

Palladium boots are ridiculously expensive, that's why I put in the extra effort to find the cheap Israeli ones. One pairs being shipped, From Israel..the other (High Top Buckles) are being shipped by a friend in Bakersfield, CA..where I last saw these boots. Im amazed at how hard to find they are! All the crusty vegan punks must have bought em all in the 80's and 90's

i know...it's my secret shame....

the first thing i do whenever i hit a thrift store is go to the shoe rack on the hopes of finding a pair.

found a beautiful pair of loggers once, my size, fit like a dream....i had them for over a decade....i am waiting for lightning to strike twice, because i just cant afford them right now, i had to lower my sights and buy some red wings to tide me over, as i am brutal on my shoes, and wear them out quickly.

however, i am planning a run to St Matthews Closet, a local charity, that has surprisingly good stuff, super cheap...

i am now praying to the gods of thrift, Salvation, and Army that i might find the goods that John frum has worn, and left behind for me to use...at a very reasonable price.

Wow. Boots as accessories. I see tons of fab boots at car-boot sales but they have high heels. Maybe I could use them somehow as an accessory. Sew a drawsting top on them and attach them to my basket. Or screw it onto my handlebars as a drink holder.
