STILL processing my first burn experience

Postby FeetOfClay » Sun Dec 16, 2012 6:34 am

Hey everyone--I have missed u so much, and have not been on E-Playa since getting back from my first burn this year.
Just wanted to take a minute to share where i am at, and what it has meant to me:

--Memories of my burn coming flooding back to me at odd moments; it has become like a faint music always playing in the background of my mind
--i am STILL decompressing and processing these many months later
--i am hungry to smell that dust again
--whereas i of course said afterwards : "yeah, i MIGHT go back again--but considering cost, etc..." has now changed to "I NEED TO GO HOME AGAIN".
--the burn broke me open, split my heart, brought out my best, challenged my boundaries, cracked and chafed my skin, coated my every hair and skin cell, and buried itself in my heart
--this year: bigger, better, louder, MORE, gifting, participating, serving, channeling, dancing
--nothing will ever be as beautiful to me as 7 am in the black rock desert. those crisp, cold, sunny mornings alone make the trip worth it

So, yeah...see you guys next year

PS: i could go on and on and on and on....but gotta go to work now!

I was just thinking of you and wondered if you made it to the burn!

Glad you enjoyed it and I have no idea how to cure your home sickness, except maybe some regional activities, a bonfire now and then, and prepare for a bigger better burn in 2013. Welcome home, soon enough...
I'm the MAN in a truck, burner who is stuck, you're in luck! I'll whip out my BIG tow chain and not charge you, not even one lousy buck!

Not to speak for everyone, but I think most of us experienced what you express so concisely. Thanks for bringing tears to my eyes as the homesickness raises its lovely head.

Yes----i KNEW i had to come back to E-playa and thank all you guys, reconnect, and let u all know that i was alive and well...it just took me MONTHS to get around to it

ever since being on the Playa, i have been experiencing subtle but profound shifts. i am making art on a daily basis now, pulling back from people and places that no longer serve me, and living for what I want to do with my time

also, trying to distill what i experienced into words has proved impossible. i kept waiting for the "perfect" way to tell people about my first burn, until finally i realized: "I can NEVER capture it, plus the people on E-Playa ALREADY know how it is, cause they've been there...so just get back on there already, tell them u had fun and that u are still alive!"

people here in defaultia are like, "yeah...how was your trip? you never talk about it! tell me all all about it!"

and i am STILL at a total loss for words...i can share snippets and fragments, but the experience as a whole? like some divine unreal-ly-immediate trance.

For those who've never been, no words can describe it. For those who have, no words are necessary.

You were camped 40 feet from me, and I didn't get to meet you till a buffet in Reno!? Maybe if I knew you were a vegan, I wouldn't have doubled up on the Prime Rib.
