Digital Apex

Postby BIGSEXXY » Sun Nov 04, 2012 12:31 am

After taking a full year to get off the ground we finally have plans to bring this massive art project to the playa in 2013.
Image

Welcome to the world of Digital Apex. We are a Burning Man Theme camp based out of Santa Cruz CA. Our group is a non profit organization that helps bring artists together working in harmony to achieve a common goal. We welcome artists of all types and encourage you to go bigger and better then you ever have before. Your creativity is not only what drives us but also gives us life.

Our current plans for 2013 are to construct a massive coliseum that stretches over 135' wide and over 40' tall. Featuring an Insane DJ booth, 30' high statues, flame effects, lasers, intelligent lighting, 100k watt sound system, and many other TBD designs.

If you would like to join our camp please fill out our CAMP APPLICATION here:

I suspect you lost many of us at "insane DJ" and "100k watt".
Elliot's Bicycle Service, Camel Saddlery and Beverage Salon 5 & G as before, probably.

I guess the ticket price whining makes sense seeing as you'd only been going for a couple years. Sorry to hear that you felt the art was diminished, mileage may vary and all that. I have to say though, the rising cost complaint seems a little odd considering you're planning a premium dues/high dollar budget camp.

Congrats on the article, and the 501c3 status. Good luck with the project, I look forward to seeing the coliseum.

IT IS A CANCER.

it is spectator sport, not participation, and it sucks, because it is growing out of control, like bad mold.

i love to dance....i love the beats....

however the corporate fucks have an agenda, and they are using Burning Man to Further it...

do you really want this to turn into the shit show known as Ultra or Coachella?

i don't.....

so i'm here to tell you to go "Fuck Yourself" and your Frat Boy Party, too.

bigger is NOT better, and i dont give a shit if carl Cox sucks the playa's dick...

that is NOT what "It" is about...

it may be PART of what "It" is but it's rapidly overgrowing the bounderies of community,

and it is a frankenstein i actually helped to create.

kill the monster, before it kills you.

this is my mea culpa,

heed my warning, Black Rock City.

then distrik should be out to. i avoided that place like the plauge cause it just seems so unfriendly, college party, not to mention the fuck tastic moop of feathers. i have to agree. the mega sound camps kind fuck up the burn. i have only been once but they just are... fuck i dont know how to describe it but i do agree with you it seems to be moving closer to ultra ect. i guess with the new head guy in place we will be moving more that way as he is a head honcho for some of these massive dance parties. maybe there will be a glimmer of hope but it seems like most likely not.

tattoogoddess - I disagree with lumping in Distrikt. If it's not your cup of tea, great, but those guys do a lot of good and embody 'doing it right' in a lot of ways. Getting popular can be a double-edged sword, while I may not care for some people in the crowd I'm glad to see they welcome and serve everyone. And instead of just raising bigger bucks for a bigger camp or more ridiculous sound system, they stick to something that works and in the last couple years have stepped it up to even provide their own art grants. That's huge. As for your comments about Charlie Dolman I'm a bit confused, what events are you talking about? Secret Garden Party's got a great reputation for art and creating rich atmospheres.

Certain sound camps do suffer from their own success. DISTRIKT and Robot Heart are two.. that's for sure.

LOL..awesome..

You all are great and Burning Man wouldnt be the same without you.

Now with that being said.
I feel you all should know that this group is nothing more then positive energy drawn together by a common vision.
We are not going around flaunting large amounts of cash or carelessly spending money, we fund raise and work hard to complete goals as a team.
Our plans to build this project (which had been posted in the forums since September of 2010 as Love and Light) have had so many speed bumps along the way.
Our core team have now reached a point where we feel we can complete it.
It may just be for this year...it may be for 10 years...either way we hope you all stop by and have some fun with us.
I seriously doubt our 130 person camp will be able to shift the direction of a 50,000+ festival.
See you all on the playa,

I don't know why all the hate for Digital Apex themed camp! I thought most peeps at burning man were open minded, friendly, supportive and welcoming, but this thread is showing otherwise. I am coming all the way from Australia with about 8 other people and every single one of us are excited to be a part of this themed camp, they have a great idea, and big isn't necessarily bad! These guys are artists attempting to create an epic structure of wonder on the playa and I am fully supportive of this, I think it will be amazing.

Great work Bigsexxy! keep it up and ignore the haters, only lovers are welcome!
Love is the key philosophy. The love of great red wine from Bordeaux or Burgundy. The love of weird and wonderful sounds – high weirdness, weird highness, the cave man to the rave man, eternal celestial musicians hanging around whistling an old tune
