Can We Persuade Theo Jansen to Attend?

I am reminded of Hawthorne's story of a mechanical, living butterfly.
Genius!

I was there when Lindsay the Electric Giraffe first walked on the playa.
This would be a terrific follow to that.

On this 2013 subforum, I'm going to guess one, so far?
More wouldn't surprize me much though.

It's great work and all, but I don't know how I feel about trying to entice 'celebrity artists' to the event. Great if that's something he wants to do on his own, but otherwise just doesn't seem right - sorta like a sound camp trying to line up and bring in performers that wouldn't otherwise make the trek out.

Normally I'd think so too, but his pattern is to go places and run his machines on beaches.
What good is a walking machine in a gallery?

He's already planning a trip to america, so we don't have to lure him across the briney deep.
We just have to persuade him to bring his priceless machinery out into the dust.
They may very well be too fragile, being made so wind efficient.

I think persuading anyone to come is a mistake.
you gotta want to be there......persuasion often engenders "elite" attitudes.
nope, I'm with Trilo.

Theo Jansen? I want to know if Alex and Allyson Grey will be there!

Who?

Of course no one will come if they don't want to.
Burning man isn't as universally known as everyone attending thinks.
And kinetic artists are hardly comparable to rappers and djs.
I'm afraid conditions may be the real issue for his machines.
Complex valves may not tolerate dust, even if he is willing to expose them.

If you are really intrigued, maybe you can build something based on what he's done? The plans are out there.

Yep.

I'm overwhelmed by the complexity.
He's already done it better.
I'm already working on a project anyway.

I'm sure he's aware of Burning Man and would show up after losing his fear of boobs.

Who're you calling a boob?
When he lights his streetlamp, it is as if he brought one more star to life, or one flower.
When he puts out his lamp, he sends the flower, or the star, to sleep.
That is a beautiful occupation.
