A young lady that was part of my rideshare (she's done 11 burns) heard me play "One Headlight" by Wallflowers and remarked " That's a good BM song"

Whaddaya think?

After that was my Arlo Guthrie CD. She liked that too. YMMV.
I think exodus is sorrow mixed with joy. We had some, there.

Whoa. Play only once. Perhaps a little too soulful for today. Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Mine is going to be a weird nomination backed by a weirder story. During Friday night white out, we were walking around lost. Our visibility was next to nill.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, I heard Beethoven... *pause* ...for about a minute (9th symphony, second movement). I screamed in utter, irrepressible joy!
Till this day, I can't tell if this really happened or if it was part of my imagination (after all, we had just gotten done talking about underworld jello people).

Either way... it was the most beautiful thing to hear on playa!

In my world there's only legible and more legible.

This came on as I was finishing my run today. Made me think of the playa.

Drink up baby doll
Mmm are you in or out
Leave your things behind
'Cause it's all going off without you
Excuse me
Too busy
Oh, writing your tragedy
These mishaps
You bubble wrap
When you've no idea what you're like

(So let go) so let go
Jump in
Oh well whatcha waiting for
It's all right
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown
(So let go) let go
Just get in
Oh it's so amazing here
It's all right
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown

It gains the more you give
And it rises with the fall
So hand me that remote
Can't you see that all that stuff's a sideshow
Such boundless pleasure
We've no time for later now
You can't await your own arrival
You've twenty seconds to comply

(So let go) so let go
Jump in
Oh well whatcha waiting for
It's all right
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown
(So let go) yeah let go
Just get in
Oh it's so amazing here
It's all right
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown

So let go
Jump in
Oh well whatcha waiting for
It's all right
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown
So let go
Jump in
Oh well whatcha waiting for
It's all right
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown

Mmm the breakdown
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown
Hey, the breakdown
So amazing, yeah
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown

To quote Trilo from another thread:

We interrupt your regularly scheduled ongoing series of distractions to alert you to important upgrades and changes in how video embeds work. Now instead of having separate [youtube] and [vimeo] tags that you have to format a certain way, we've got one [video] tag that's able to figure out the video link (and it also supports Ustream). I'm also taking this time to rename the thread, since we're no longer limited to movies on youtube. Vimeo, DailyMotions, and Ustream are also supported.

A little hokie i know, but this song sounds exactly like how i feel when i'm hitting the playa. AND i'm one of those people that doesn't necessarily call the playa home.

Tamarakay, pretty song. :) I think I'd heard that somewhere but I didn't know what it was.

I love having songs with "Home" in the title on my driving playlist even though I don't refer to BRC as "home" (occasionally my "home planet" or "hometown", though). Funny how the little difference in semantics makes me feel (slightly) less hokey.

The Nevada State Song
Home Means Nevada
words and music by Mrs. Bertha Raffetto (1885-1952)

Way out in the land of the setting sun,
Where the wind blows wild and free,
There's a lovely spot, just the only one
That means home sweet home to me.
If you follow the old Kit Carsen trail,
Until desert meet the hills,
Oh you certainly will agree with me,
It's the place of a thousand thrills.

CHORUS:
Home means Nevada,
Home means the hills,
Home means the sage and the pines.
Out by the Truckee's silvery rills.
Out where the sun always shines.
There is a land that l love the best,
Fairer than all I can see.
Right in the heart of the golden west,
Home means Nevada to me.

Whenever the sun at the close of day
Colors all the western sky,
Oh, my heart returns to the desert grey
And the mountains tow'ring high.
Where the moon beams play in shadowed glen
With the spotted fawn and doe
All the lifelong night until morning light
Is the loveliest place I know.

I think it'd be cool if the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) would give a nicknme to SR447: "The Burning Man Highway."
Similar to what was done with SR375 "The Extraterrestial Highway."
My cats are cuter than your grandkids!
