I didn't mean hair strands would just split in half. More like cause damage which would eventually cause breakage.

yea aserendipity, and my guess is the train ia ADA compliant, but don't call me on that, please.

MDF, Nice avatar pic, I remember when you got playafied that afternoon! IIRC an entire flatbed/18 wheeler drove down a 15 min block lined up with the opening of your monkey hut and kicked up dust from the entire block! I didn't know you were resting in the shaded hammock otherwise I'd have helped you into your tent.
Man, you got plastered! I think we rushed you off to the showers...

The train party is so tempting for me, perhaps I can hop on in Truckee or join by auto timed however,,,,, when everyone arrives in Reno ;)

Yggy, While driving to Reno in my truck I have seen wild caboose parties happening on the train as it's traveling down the Truckee river banks. Looks classy and fun!
I know some friends from Tahoe who do this party and get access to the caboose and it's back porch. I'm wondering, does BDC&WB's winter train party get a cobbose too?

Hi guys, I thought a bar would be good place to air my woes, its not really a FUCK! or even a dammit bill! just a general sit at the bar and whine at the bartender about how life can be a bit crappy.
3 weeks ago my work van got stolen in the van was every single tool i own and my last years receipts (for gas and materials). this lead to 3 immediate results, first my instant unemployment. Can't work without tools, I am still hoping to get some of them back as the van was recovered by the police, who have been forensicing it for a while now - my ex employer hasn't been responding to my emails about whats happenning so i am just hoping right now. It may be that none of my tools are even in the van. Because of those company choosing to deduct money for various reasons from my previous paychecks (the ones while i was over there and the one when i got back) i simply do not have the money to buy even the most basic of tools to get back working. Secondly all of invoices and receipts were needed for me to get a tax rebate, which would of paid for BM in 2013 or more importantly now Tools to earn a crust, without them i will be lucky to get anything from HMRC (our IRS) and thirdly, and most sadly, I guess now i won't be joining you guys in the dust in 2013 unless some kind of miracle occurs (getting tools and receipts back from the wanker company).
I have been holding off about letting you guys know about it, in the hope i could end the story on a more happy note, but I guess for me now its time to move on from it and letting y'all know is a way of closing that door.
while i am at it i guess i should also mention I was looking at the terms for getting a visa for America and more importantly grounds for refusal, one of them is if you have 2 criminal convictions, or any morally qustionable crimes. well I fall down on that too. Looking at if I apply for a visa and get refused I can be turned away at customs even if i have a ESTA (or whatever the visa waiver is called) so if i want to be able to come to TTiTD I don't want to risk getting banned from America because i tried to stay there for more than 3 months at a time and never be able to go to ttitd again.
It's not all doom and gloom though, my landlord Dave, has been a star feeding me and keeping me from despair, plus of course you lot to chat to and share the good times with.
So patient bat tender, can you grab me one of those special dusty PBR's and shot (in the dark) of fireball whisky for the memory of the playa and a toast. Here's to that thing in the desert we all love, and the frienships, lifelong and true it makes for those of us that embrace the dust in that place we call home.

My sympathies, Grai.
Especially for tools.

Try re-creating records with estimates and anything you can use to back them up with.

Research the visa issue.
Someone will know.

ah, coffee, hot, chocolatty, egg noggy coffee...............Makes CEC.

Crap GD!!
There's gotta be hope......have they told you what tools are in your van? Or if the receipts are there?
Or will they let you look? Seems holding despair, untill checking the van might be good.
you might also see if you can find out, where it was found, exactly, and see if any stuff (especially paperwork) could have just been tossed in the bushes or something considered trash. One could see the buggars tossing a file or folders full of receipts out the door as they were looking around inside.

dang..

Hi AntiM!
Hi MDF

yggi I know literally nothing, from what i can tell the van was stolen crashed and abandoned, i beleive all my tools (or at least most are still there, but (mushroom) being kept in the dark. it is pretty sucky, though i am really avoiding despair, because i know where that leads.

I suppose the life here of an illegal alien might be tough, GD.......
but don't throw all options away.
there is talk of change to our system, and if an amnesty is granted, you might get in on it....if you were already here.

read your early posts of course
and from family members who are now being vetted I know the drill
could give you some examples but that is a son in law personal (also UK born)
service and alliance are two threads that sometimes assist in resolution
lean heavily even while dancing through the quagmire ..this month we are attending the swearing in of another son in law Austrian woodworker turned teacher now dual citizen

the question Yggi, is would take a risk that meant if you lose the bet you can never see any of us EVER AGAIN. for me, as much as i want to be over there thats just to big a chance, not being able to go for 1 year is bad enough but never again? like for real never ever, whats worse is if i even try its game over.

Sometimes, I get all caught up in the idea of "working around" problems or issues, and spend more energy than just dealing.

it's one of my many flaws.

I hear that Yggi, i always try to work around a problem, but sometimes its just not realistic. I have looked at it, and with all you guys could "probably" manage with no risk, but with my luck, i would never be able to relax, just get caught once doing one thing or be in the wrong place, or any of a million other things.
i am probably not in the right place to even think about this right now anyway, i think about my tools and think of the ones that i can't replace, or how the hell am i getting home in 2013.

bollox lets get drunk it is a bar after all
