While I'm not privy to the restoration team rating methodologies, that looks like an anomalous MOOP rating result--like it was rated with a different standard than the rest. I'd expect that most MOOP problems should be contained within or at the edges of "natural" borders like camp or village outlines, except maybe hotspots. In this case, however, the yellow intersects large villages such as Barbie Death Village, Gigsville, and two others. While it doesn't rule out that those areas were MOOPy, it seems like something is up with how that stripe was reported.

Kamp Krusty came is 100% green. Our efforts to sweep up our camp and the surrounding area showed up on the map.
Sad to see a BIG red square for Robot Heart. Not even a speck of green or yellow. Where is their HEART for moop patrol?

Looks like you need to higher Rosie next year.

I'm still seeing a big white strip across the city. :?

Retrofrolic is at the end of that strip and I wanted to see how they did.

Shit, I hope you're right.

That seems like an abnormal amount of yellow.

Bbadger - the big yellow areas were not rated using a different standard. My understanding is that all the spots are double-checked and subsequently rated by the same individuals on the playa restoration team. I'll try and catch up to DA on Sunday and see if he can shed any light on what could have happened.

We've been up for a few days now. See Tnt's post right above yours. All green but one spot we evidentially truly fucked up on. Windmill/evap pond location. I'd like to know what was wrong with the spot for mega correction next year.

Hey! Would you guys like some unverified information from a random person I don't know that I copy and pasted from Reddit?!

SURE YOU WOULD!

Sf Decom update - according to the resto folk I talked to, the map isn't exactly a bible, and one should only be worried if their camp is majorly red or has black spots. The difference between green and yellow could be slower resto folk in one area, or an overzealous scribe, or a dust storm. The big yellow line was a bunch of scribes in training, from what I heard. The final sf map had some big green spots in the middle of that yellow line as well, not like the one online.

Did you get a new haircut Nipple? You look different somehow, huh :?

Barbie Death Village should be all clear. I know we Dread Pirate Barbies (and many other Barbiebarians) hauled a fuckton of trash out, including the last pile of bags (& etc etc) that went into my trailer. The local bears where I live Love Love LOVED the GALLONS of BACON GREASE in the coffee cans they managed to wrangle loose before the garbage can man got to 'em. Seems we got us some bacon lovin' burner bears! :P

color #800000 is BACON I do believe...

When I click on the link Day 6 in HIGH DEFFINITION all I get is:

"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage."

Is there another way to view the MOOP Map? I'm really curious to see how well BDV did. And don't suggest Facebook, my filters won't let me access that site.

edit: Hehe, my post made it on Eplaya. I typed this on the phone at work while taking a shit, so to add to it -

I talked to two different DPW folks. One was the first or second girl who was talking to folks about the map for awhile, and the other was a random DPW guy. Didn't get either of their names. Both of them said pretty much the same thing to me - the difference between a yellow or a green can be pretty small sometimes. Some yellow spots are just a first-year resto person who is picking up MOOP in an area slowly.

The big things to be worried about would be red spots. Red spots are legitimate "you fucked up"'s. Yellows can be an alarming thing, but yellows can also be wind blowing an asshole's shit into your shit, or a slow person, or a DPW guy who really fucking hates picking up PVC shavings, any number of factors. Black spots are even worse... and the live MOOP map definitely had black spots inside of red spots. Root Society had a black spot, and so did Opulent. The live MOOP map also had the giant yellow streak slightly different... there were a few green spots inside of it, and definitely at least one large green spot.

The standards also shift from year to year. Things that might piss off the DPW a whole lot one year might not piss them off as much the next year. Sometimes a yellow spot can be "ANOTHER FUCKING BOTTLE CAP?" and it's just yellowed. "

Hey, nice to make the connection.

Yeah, reddit pretty much sucks so I post a bit and lurk a lot. I can't really figure out what it's subbosed to be "for" exactly, other than a place to dump links and complain about people posting links. :P

Big picture here, Doc. You are absolute ruler of a village. YOu have minions to tell you how BDV did. You can make them copy the map and send it to you. You can make them do interpretive dance about the MOOP level. The Playa is your Fucking Oyster, and don't you forget it!

That's because Zeke embedded a larger resolution picture (tsk tsk). The lower resolution (and forum-friendly size) is actually embedded in the blog post.
