Mmm, coffee. Although I think I have a snuffly headcold.

Loquats are okay, but I prefer kumquats. (really do)
Ramble on: My maternal grandfather used to own a fruit stall in the LA Farmer's Market and mom worked there as a teenager. Early 1940s, prewar. She'd tell about the Hollywood stars who shopped there, Boris Karloff really did have a scary voice, Jack Benny gave her dad a gold watch one Christmas (wonder what became of that?), and Gene Kelly's wife would buy big baskets of kumquats to make homemade kumquat marmalade, Gene's favorite. Apparently my grandfather sold the best kumquats in LA!

*Looks for coffee after not much of a night's sleep*
I like kumquats better too, but the house came with loquats. And plums & pears, figs, lemons and more.

I think everyone in the world has this crappy cold. My sister in DC has it. A college friend in Mumbai has it.

Grai: Alice, Tiedye & I did indeed get into the hot tub in the morning before we left. You wanted to see me in my bathing suit? What, wandering around naked for a week wasn't good enough? You have some kind of a weird clothes fetish? :)

Hi gang!
What fun the decom was!! it was great seeing so many folks......lots of nice costumes and few MV's........music.......
got to sit at the Black Hole for quite a while with Fishy......heckling strangers and watching "the show".
and with Fleet Week happening, the jets going over added a very surreal aspect.

*stumbles in, pre-caffeine* Good morning, bar!

Sorry to have missed all the people and the things at decom, I was feeling poorly (wobbly stomach) and we missed the event altogether. Still not feeling great, but better today than the last two and a half days, hopefully all will be right heading into the weekend when we drive down to LA. Now to find some caffeine!

Good time at the Decomp. Good visit with YG & Looneytune, Fishy and Jackass. Missed you Trilo and hope you're feeling better. Costumes and art were really wonderful this year. My MnG was very lightly attended, despite my sign.

Coffee!

Have a great week, kids

Yep, littleflower, I remember So Cal in the '60's. There was a fair bit of agriculture remaining even then.

The poetic center of Kim Stanley Robinson's The Gold Coast is a description of the loss of the orange orchards in Orange County. I have not read it in years, but this is one of those books that gave me a piece of my soul.

Just dashing through to say how much I have missed you all and how excited I am that Misa is coming here tonight! 8) 8) 8)

Sounds like the SF Decom was great fun. Sorry about the London sell-out Grai. DC is not even having one, to my knowledge, please don't get me started on the lame-itudity of my regional.

Mmm, coffee, thanks. And so exciting to see Misa!

I remember orange groves when we lived at Point Mugu.

My problem with Decompression is not knowing if Larry will be home so we can go, or if he's only home for the evening, is it worth it to drive down to SLC for a couple hours? Ogden does a kickass unofficial live music regional with camping, but we couldn't go. Screw it, we're going to Cancun.
