Red wigs found on public transit may not be your best source of burningman costume. On pubic transit--completely out of the question.

Back when most computer applications weren't smart enough to not crash, I gave myself an OCD habit of "riding control-S" which meant if I paused typing or was just reading, I'd idly hit "control-S" and save whatever I was working on. (On a Mac, "Command-S" or "Propellor-S".)

I tweaked it for the Internet and now when I post something on a forum, I hit "control-A, control-C"—"select all, copy"—just before I click "Post". When the Internet fails, I can post again and paste back the text I took all that time to write.

There is a lot of treasure to be found on the playa. Here are two great places to look:

If you see an unoccupied couch in Center Camp, go and dig under the cushions.

At the first hint of daybreak go and look around on the ground near the Opulent Temple.

I ordered a few desert-boonie style hats from amazon. They were all good, except one(the most inexpensive one, of course). The material was way too stiff, and there were little pokey things that scratched my head. Well, I washed it once, then let it soak in enzymes overnight, washed it again, and it is now comfy and wear-able. Soaking in enzymes is a great way to "break things in".

Here's a tip to make you "pointless"
Put a tennis ball on your bikes kickstand. Your stock pointy little kickstand WILL sink into the playa and your bike WILL fall over. So if you cut a small hole in a tennis ball and jam it on there, it'll lessen the chance of your bike falling. It also helps to shoot a little expanding foam, or glue, or some such into the ball so it doesn't bounce off while you're cruising.

First, I think some of you people are missing the point of this thread, and second, I suggest snowshoes rather than a bike with tennis balls.

Not if you are trying to walk on ice. Tennis balls will give you better grip!

And if you're going to walk on ice with snow shoes, you definitely need balls.

Ice seems to be harder than pavement. At least it feels that way when you wipe out.

Triple your stopping distance when the temperature is between 2C and -20C, when the temp drops below -20C you probably only need double the stopping distance. (Salt does not work on roads below -20C)
