We have both here, cans, bottles & draft. BUT, and it's a really big but, the Coors you get in Canada is not the same. Made under license in Canada. It sucks. Same for many other beers.
theCryptofishist wrote:Well, back in the 70s, Coors was so unavailable to the East Coast that there was actually a hit movie about taking some from Colorado to NY.

Coors from Colorado tastes best!

But, much of the beer in Quebec is 8%, and some even 11%!
And made much tastier than the under-licence chemical beers.

I don't know shit about Canada . . . your jaws were dropping because booze was comparatively cheap, or because it was expensive? Please explain.

Much cheaper in the States, often extremely so. Our alcohol is heavily taxed. Ontario actually has a legal minimum for a case of beer. A company is not allowed to sell it for less, even if they'd make a profit at it. You can buy wine (by bottle, case or barrel) from the maker, but they have to sell it at the same price it sells for at the government store: no volume discount. Beer sells retail in colourful boxes, but the boxes delivered to the restaurants/bars are plain cardboard with a logo, so an inspector can tell at a glance that the beer they have has been "registered" for sale and will get collected sales taxes. They're now allowed to pickup retail boxes from the beer stores, and an inspector will notice those immediately and ask for the paperwork.

Hard liquor is astoundingly cheaper. Vodka for $10 a bottle? WTF? I bought four bottles just to give away!
I got Ice Wine, made in Canada, in both Nevada and Florida, for less than what I pay in Canada.
Some wine (not Ice Wine), that we pay $20 to $30 a bottle for, can be as low as $8 to $12 a bottle in the States.

And then there's sales...

Some food is cheaper. Some the same. Some more expensive. Restaurants usually cheaper.
City here in Canada: wings & some beer for one. Beer roughly $6 for a large draft. Cross into States to small town and the same money gets three people a meal and all the beer you'd want for two ($1.50 large draft; $1 happy hour).

On a recent trip to the States. In Canada, regular gas was $4.88; $3.88 in New York State.
Yup. A whole dollar more.

Cheap booze and guns might explain our high healthcare costs.

I will tell you... Cake Vodka I think is the gift from the gods! Pineapple Juice, Grenadine and Cake vodka.. Taste just like upside down Pineapple cake!

But yeah please fill me in what is good booze to bring with? This will be my first year and want to make some friends out there. Im kinda "shy" meaning its some what hard to just go up and talk to people. If they come up to me im fine.

There is now Whipped Cream & Marshmello flavored Vodka.....

So compare shopped today. Fuck Mart has the cheapest prices. Go figure. Plus cheap mixers. They said if you plan on coming in place an order ahead of time with them. The one on east 2nd street said they pretty much ran out of everything last year. So depending on how much I make off of tips from this huge ass bike ride coming in to town looks like I should be able to get quite a bit of booze!
Uv 10.97 small ( Getting 2 cake, blue,sweet tea,cherry )
malibu 14.47small 24.47 large
vodka (shitty stuff) 6.37small 13.47large Mix with lemon aid or something like that.
10 bottles enough for me and friends? haha I figure about $100 budget on booze and $25 on mixers.

yeah TG. a Bennie on Booze-n-mixers is a pretty good showing, folks from my camp pretty much did the same, I have brought Wine; 9 gallons, blackberry home brewed, and peach Moonshine, 2-3gallons. but kinda felt cheep so spent another $40 in Alturas CA on PBR. $40 buys allot of beer in Cali. not like here in Wa. Right now I'm looking for small 1/2 bottles to put this batch of Blackberry schnapps into that I intend to bring as gifts. but the budget says. Dude! do you even have the Gas $$?? so we wait.
then agian could always use the Moonshine in the Tank? naja!

How much is enough depends on how much you like to drink. We always bring booze back but then, we don't drink as much as we used to. I'm not downing a fifth a day like I could back in my Navy days. There's always booze around somewhere on the playa, no one ever needs to go dry.

I'm bringing a few bottles of Five Wives vodka, simply because it is made right here in Ogden. Plus different rums, cake vodka, and Van Gogh espresso vodka, an absinthe, and fireball whiskey, and well, I'd have to look in the box o booze. We buy random bottles of booze on sale on base when we go out to the commissary every couple of weeks and throw it on the boozeshelf in the basement. It helps that MyLarry only drinks beer when he is home (he favors Kona Brewery these days) and I don't drink alone. The stockpile is pretty extensive by the end of summer!
These are not my fuckos.

TattooGoddess, I can beat that-- BevMo has the large UV cake for $16, Costco has the large Malibu for $16 (it's $17 @ Safeway),
and I've seen shitty vodka 1.75ml for <$10 at Safeway, Bevmo, etc. I remember because I thought that my $12 find was a good deal.

If you buy 6 at Safeway, the prices are even better. I scored bottles of Andre brut (my fave for mimosas + fresh OJ) for $4!

My BM stash is getting quite impressive! (That is IF I stop stealing from it for random pool parties... )

Ben's discount liquors on 4th and Keystone. Ben's also has 2 or 3 other locations but the one on 4th and Keystone is the closest to the Sands. They have a great selection...

Bulk Absinthe? I bring a bottle, but... T, I wanna know where you are and party with ya.

And TG, I thought you meant "cheap" booze, not low cost. I don't want to serve something I wouldn't care for.
