Last week i get my tix from a friend -yeah- So if i in he first row of the queue i put the STEP Tix back to STEP. My minds are with you and hope everyone get his tickets.

Hey guys. I'll keep this short. You can see my older posts in this thread if you want more info about my situation.

Was going to be me and my girl's 5th year. It's the only time we get out of town each year - the rest other 357 days of the year are spent at college and work, and dreaming of Home, and saving pennies. Burning Man changed our lives and we're thankful for that. It's an expensive (for us anyway) trip from Canada but a fun roadtrip and of course worth every cent.

We didn't win the lottery this year. I'll spare the details but we barely made it into STEP. Was a 12:10er. Almost didn't get them but managed to accept the STEP tickets with literally 10 seconds before they expired. We were ecstatic. Tickets were far more than we'd ever spent in the past but we decided to make it work.

Then we were told the tickets couldn't be used except by my 90 year old grandmother, who allows us to use her credit card each year for this purpose, since we don't have one. Reason? Burning Man is worried about scalpers, cheaters, and bad guys. I'm not a scalper. I just want to go Home. But of course, "compute says no". Several pleading emails later we had to realize there was no way Burning Man was going to let us use the tickets we finally managed to get. We played by the book from day 1, obeyed every rule and suggestion, stayed in line when we were told, jumped through hoops, helped others in this thread and others find their way, didn't get friends with credit cards to enter the lottery on our behalf, and so on. And yet, here we are, heartbroken and unable to go Home because the ticket people "can't" edit the name on our order.

Yup, life goes on. Yup, it's all our fault. Yup, we can just come next year. I know all that. Thanks.

Still can't help but feeling a bit let down. We don't regret putting so much of ourselves into this community, only to be shut out with little more than a form-letter email saying "YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN RICHER OR MORE POPULAR BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME". We'd do it all again. Like I said, Burning Man changed our lives, in a very positive way. Thank you, Burning Man!!

I hope everybody who makes it this year has an incredible and life-enhancing experience, especially the 2 lucky STEP-children who just bought our ticket.

You're throwing in the towel too easily, put your story in tickets wanted thread. You'll probably have a tickets offer before the weekend is over.

Or try looking in the tickets OFFERED thread. There's a lot of them going up now. Including one I thought I'd never see!

See.. this entire argument holds water like a siv. Right now, not only are there tickets for sale everywhere.. but you have someone physically holding tickets and trying to contact this person expressly to offer them.

Those that stay connected and vigilant throughout the process from start to finish will almost certainly find tickets. I personally have helped connect a total of 7 tickets so far this year with more yet on the horizon. Whining will get you nowhere but your living room.. as clearly illustrated here.

Being connected isn't always an option.
That's why i posted so sporadically for so many years after eplaya started.

Greetings fellow STEP children, I've been hopeful at 12:21:02 and have not received an email offer yet. Could I have been skipped? or could it be that I'm a burgin? Anyone else in this time range getting concerned?

It could be that there are 2 different time stamps people are going off of; the time the email was sent to them, and the time they recieved it. On my email, the time recieved is the only thing shown unless you get a drop-down menu and click to see full-header. So, maybe, the folks getting the STEP offer who seem to be further along the list than you, are posting their time stamp for when they recieved the email orginally, not the time stamp for when the email was sent. That would give the illusion that the line is further along than it is. And maybe you are going by the sent time, not the recieved time.

For instance my email says 12:29:28 as the time stamp, but if I click to see the full header, it shows "From Burning Man Tickets Fri Mar 2 12:21:25 2012"

Anyway, if I haven't confused things further, you can't say I didn't try.

Timestamps are a rough estimate (as has been beaten to death in this thread). If you see someone post with a later stamp than you it means nothing - you're in line & if a ticket comes up when you're the next in line you'll be notified. There is absolutely no way to know where you are in the line, just guesses.

In plain English, you have not been skipped, and it has nothing to do with being a birgin. You're in line - patience, grasshopper.
