The best part is when the first year third camelback and backpack portable shade structures get replaced with second year bowling pins and midgets.

And we never bring enough bowling pins and the midgets always run away....

Heh. I was thinking the same thing. I cruised the thread before trying to add vice grips and a good water bottle. :) Then I found AntiM's kind offer of a camelbak and chair. So sweet.

Oh. I know you have LED's on the list, and you are on a super tight budget, so try for something like glowby's (on ebay pretty cheap). It's nice to be lit up at night and they are not just cheap glow sticks that turn into moop anyhow. The glowby's can go into a hat or straight on your hair (pony, braid, whatever). They eat batteries so get some extras. A string of EL wire for your coat or pack is also a thought (sew it on with fishing line).

Also - you haven't finished a clothing list, but add a hankerchief or two. They work well as dust masks and hair covers for dust storms. You can even get them wet and cool off your head! :) I like silk scarves too, and they likely won't get ruined, you just wash em when you get home.
In dust we trust.

Consider a spare top sheet to completely cover your bed when you aren't in it. The dust is insidious, and covering your bed gives you a fresher place to crash by the end of the week. Sleeping under a dusty cover just isn't restful after a couple nights. Even our pretty much dustproof tent acquires dust in the big storms.

LOL, I saw one fitted, one flat... because I sleep with sheets and a blanket out there. Amazing what a brain will rearrange, huh?

I never have been able to stand a sleeping bag, we have beautiful all weather down ones I got over 20 years ago, still pristine.....

Work gloves for set up and tear down. Good leather ones afford some protection, but don't coat your hands in sweat.

I note you have Winter gloves on there. They might be nice on a 40F night, but a coat with pockets is usually enough (unless your hands are a special case and/or the gloves are really fabulous and you want them for that reason).

Well this might seem obvious but if that is your checklist for packing - your ticket should be the first thing on the list.

It would be heartbreaking to get all the way to BRC and realize its at home, yet it's a commonly heard horror story.

You're right . . .

My Burning Man packing list says Ticket . . . Ticket . . . Ticket across the top of the first page and the bottom of the last page, and the "To Do: Day of Departure" has an item about my rideshare and I showing our tickets and where they're kept to each other.

True, you're a Will Call person. Though between you and me and the message board, last year I had Will Call for the first time in a long time, and packed the confirmation # in multiple places in my luggage.

(I am emotionally scarred from watching my friend Eric lack any proof of his Will Call ticket in 2001. He paid a 2nd time. Lucky for him, tickets were sold at the door back then! . . . It was probably his fault (he may not have purchased it correctly in the first place) but who can say?)

Maybe one pair of work gloves would be plenty?
They make nice pig skin types and unless you want a fancy extra pair (is that a girl thing??) it seems one pair of work gloves would suffice. I didn't think it was THAT cold out there, and I'm a 24 hour burner (only sometimes, lol).

I tell ya' I think I may refer to this packing list. Haha, I need to fine tune some of my schtuff to bring  and I'm local    8)

Those are fabulous!

I have two pairs of leather work gloves with my name sharpied on them, and a handful of fingerless gloves and arm warmers. I've only wanted real gloves once or twice in 11 years.

Only time my hands got really cold was that bad rainstorm on Sunday (Sat??) pre-event 2010 into the storm on Monday. Daytime cold, not night cold. We had ice sheets on the shade structure roof.

Chasers. They are basically carbon and sodium bicarbonate. A Rolaid and a piece of charred toast is the same thing.

Nice mittens.

What do you mean if you do any costumes?
I think you could pack & bring something. Although not everyone wears costumes, and I duobt anyone wears a cotume all the time (e g day & night) I have a feeling you could create something that'll pack easily.

There are costume camps, I have never found them, but I've had freinds from Gerlach (of all places) tell me they go there for quick costumes.
I think they donate whatever they can find, and they sometimes go back and return and/or exchange (clean, still wearable) items.

I guess when I say costumes it is clothing I can not really get away with wearing in the default world unless it is halloween or I am back in Portland going to Club Emebers. Quite normal for the playa and no one would bat a eye. But where in in small town Iowa..... ohhhh the looks I would get. I get enough oggeling from having synth dreads right now that are black.

With the hole ticketing thing right now I am not 100% sure if I can afford to make some of the stuff I want to do but I know I will me making a adult one-sy in some type of animal for lounging around to keep warm.

Most of my "costumes" will be fairly normal like post apyc wear, pin up, hell IDK I need to dig through my closet and see what I have. I have a ton or normal stuff for day when it is hot as tits but night I want to let it all out. It also depends on how much weight I loose to before the burn. (down 10 pounds) So I might be able to get into some of my old cyber goth stuff. We will see. I am going to plan the clothing out closer to and when I can get a better idea what the weather may be like.

yup that time of year, there, should be 115 at 3 pm, 70 at midnight........I've seen it rain, freeze, and be 115. And, those can happen in the same week.
Even trends are not that reliable.
