Hello from Ireland!

Hello from Ireland!

Postby mondomondo » Wed Feb 01, 2012 6:52 pm

Hello all.

I didn't exactly want my first appearance in the community to be in the 'Official Not Awarded Tix Thread', so I thought it appropriate to post up a greeting here. As implied, I unfortunately was not chosen by the great lottery in the sky to attend Burning Man this year, but I have not given up hope. It seems people are trying to ignore the possibility of the STEP program not working, but then again, I do try to be an optimist.

I am disappointed by my lack of success. In fact I was extremely disheartened at the time. But I will persevere and hopefully 2012 may be the year I am blessed with access to the playa. Anyway with any luck, I will frequent this beautiful board and gather the collective knowledge needed to make my Burning Man happen. I look forward to picking your brains.

Peas!

Hi MondoMondo! Welcome. It's okay to be sad or worried about the ticket thing (impossible not to be disappointed) but I'm really, really glad you're not giving up yet. I wouldn't! You don't have to be a clairvoyant, and know how it's going to end . . .

People who persevere in the real world are the ones who last out there on the playa. Those storms are long sometimes . . . but they can be transformative.

Hey there! Welcome and i'm not sure you will find much picking our brains, but these threads are FULL of good stuff.

Hope you don't mind, Mondomondo, but I thought I'd piggy back on your thread and say a big hello to you all as well. I've been an EPlaya lurker for a while, and, like you, didn't want my first post to be in the "not awarded tickets" thread! My (also Irish) husband and I are hoping to make 2012 the year of our first burn and are keeping everything crossed that we get to spend our 1st anniversary celebrating with cupcakes and bloody marys on the playa (we'll make plenty to go round, promise!)

We didn't get our 2 tickets in the lottery either, but onwards and upwards. There's still hope - roll on, STEP! Good luck Mondomondo and to all of you still looking for tickets.

Hi Shinysparkles! Welcome to the board.

Here's an Irish Regional link, for both you and MondoMondo . . . it's good to meet other local Burners and share tips:
http://regionals.burningman.com/eu_ie.html

There might also be a Burning Man Ireland Facebook group, not sure.
