"Let's Build a 'MAKEWAY LANDSPORTER' for BM2012!"

A Dreamcatchermobile could be just the ticket for sharing a wonderful message, while the driver 'walks on the moon'! http://darinselby.1hwy.com/images/bmdecomp07_500x416.jpg
Here it is at BM2007 "Moonwalking with a Rainbow" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbxBxMfd8o4&lr=1&user=skedaddlehop

The Santa Barbara Chariot getting assembled. http://darinselby.1hwy.com/butwaittheresmore1.html

This vehicle is a further evolution of the traditional rickshaw. It allows the runner to use much less effort, and all the while taking 'moonwalking' strides!

In my latest 'Sk8boardhopper' design drawing, it can be steered by a tail fin, while the driver is air-borne! http://darinselby.1hwy.com/skateboardhopper1.html

The fulcrum wheels are Honda, aluminum MAG, front motorcycle wheels. There are new-and-improved types of smooth tires being manufactured that can be pumped-up safely to 80-100 psi. for charioteering purposes. Then, they are deflated back to the rated 45psi for the long haul, when it's all folded-up as a flatbed trailer.http://darinselby.1hwy.com/foldablechariot03.html

So, here's the concept for having an elegant 'Foldable Chariot' (To ideally be towed behind an 'electric-assist rowing vehicle', not unlike this 1905 Velocipede.) http://tinyurl.com/7rjq3uk

So, my dream is one of Chariots, and I think that you will find
That this really is a 'rolling center stage' to share with all humankind!

Passengers arrive on a dreamcatcher cloud, full of laughs & with fun!
Puppets singing, with bells a-ringing, all a part of this 'moonwalk/run'!

Children could even carry YOU, while doing so with ease and with grace.
Blend Chariots, music and puppets, & some happy looks will be the case!

So, this is what I offer to you & also every member of the family.
What a way to go get groceries! Arrive while enjoying some tea!

Four weeks of whirlwind construction, & I hand you the 'Chariot keys'.
Videos documenting the assembly, while we imagineer 'Whirled Peas'!

The 'Segway Transporter' (with its complex gadgetry), is all left far behind
Now, the 'Makeway Landsporter'! Useful and simple is what you'll find!

Doin' our work by our own steam, while easily liftin’ up every pound!
As decentralized methods progress, we all could be floatin’ around.

Many Nature-inspired ideas I could suggest. Oh yes, the list is very, very tall.
But for now, I'll briefly say, "Just keep human power at the center of it all!"

A Dragon PUPPETHOPPER basically has a Dreamcatcher Chariot skeletal framework! The illusion of galloping, with the teeter-totter movement, can then be created!http://darinselby.1hwy.com/cgi-bin/i/images/puppethopper.jpg
After a ride on the back of this mythical beast, passengers could peer inside and see the ornate structure, and the mechanical workings...and meet the two operators in costume!

Next stop, HYPERSPACE! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2T9OvV_jnI

This may be a silly question, but what do you mean by 'members of the family'? Campmates? Part of the build crew?

Darin, I looked at your plans, and that is quite an amazing contraption and great engineering.

If it works on the beach, it should work on the playa.

The interesting thing about this balancing Chariot technique, is that it uses only a fraction of the energy that would be needed using a four-wheeled vehicle. Why? Because the traction and the coasting have been rhythmically separated. It's a true Conservation of Momentum mobile that could have far-reaching effects on the future of traversing the roads, or snow. And steering at times with none other than a tail fin!~ Imagine going north to Alaska in this: http://darinselby.1hwy.com/snowhopper.html

Ah yes, that balance adjusting track would be vital on the snowhopper. And you would want to run it rearward before going down hill!

On the contraire, the 'SNOWHOPPER' would be predominately heavier on the pulling side of the fulcrum skis. When it hops, a hydraulic piston momentarily levers the treads down into the snow, like our calf muscles do with our toes when we hop! This hop doesn't really need to be much more than what it takes for the treads to clear the snow.

When this vehicle is SKIING, while balanced upon its fulcrum skis, it is able to be efficiently steered by a TAIL FIN assembly! In the drawing, you can see the rhythmic snowtrack pattern that it would leave behind. Much, much less friction to overcome if the treads are out of the snow for a percentage of the time.
http://darinselby.1hwy.com/snowhopper.html

BRAKING could be accomplished by two actions. First, by hydraulic 'spikes' that are actuated on the fulcrum skis. Then, the front of the Snowhopper immediately comes downward, and makes contact with the snow. Regenerative braking happens through the tread(s), that then really slow the vehicle quickly and safely to a stop.

Okay, check THIS out for towing a balancing snow-hoppin' Chariot on skis! http://www.atvconnection.com/Features/F ... action.jpg
Remember, this tread assembly would be much lighter, because it is being remotely powered through an electric motor/flexible driveshaft which is all located on the Chariot itself. Here's a close-up of it: http://www.atvconnection.com/Features/F ... redder.jpg

But hey, first things first! And that is to build a 'SK8BOARDHOPPER', and accomplish it all in a timely manner for BM2012.

Let's take a SK8HOPPER TO BM2012!

Postby DarinSelby » Mon Feb 06, 2012 5:19 pm

I want to share with you my Burning Man 2012 vision.

I call it a 'SK8HOPPER', and it could be used to transport up to 1000 lbs of people on the Playa.

It folds up to become a FLATBED TRAILER to carry the gear for the long haul.

I would come to your area and build this vehicle prototype for your theme camp.

Here's the SK8HOPPER concept on a webpage. http://darinselby.1hwy.com/skateboardhopper1.html

If you like what I'm proposing, I could be in your neck of the woods within the month.

And, in keeping with the BM philosophy, gladly volunteer my time and effort to make this happen for your camp.

Here's a BM2007 Dreamcatchermobile in motion. http://current.com/entertainment/comedy ... sopher.htm

Cheers, Darin

Ah, is that one of those things where you pack it with a bunch of people, the helicopter lifts it and flies to the open playa, releases it, the parachutes open for a gentle landing, and the passengers scramble out to get to safe hiding places?

Are you with some friends that could make full-use of a FOLDABLE Chariot at Black Rock City?

Yes, that's right, it will also have the capability to fold up, and become a FLATBED TRAILER, to carry all of the gear to the event!

Here's the SK8nHOPPER concept on a webpage. http://darinselby.1hwy.com/skateboardhopper1.html
