Yes, this is a cross post:

I'm still not going to be spending any more money on setting up for burningman until I have tickets confirmation in hand. We don't have much "spare" income these days (three kids in college) and have to sacrifice other things to be able to go to burningman. I'll just plunk the money into the savings and wait. Go ahead and snark me for being uber cautious, but really, what else would I use a monkeyhut and playtech furniture for? (I can add tons of fabric dye and silk, but really i'd probably still purchase some of that and play. It is way fun)

And yes, burningman leaves you with another way at looking at life, but I felt that whole paragraph was condescending and would not make me feel any better about not being able to attend.

I have some dyes in a drawer, you want them? They're old, but still viable as they are powders. Some have instructions Japanese, but if I figured them out, you can too.

I also have colorless UV protectant dyes. Yes? No?

Alrighty. I don't have the Japanese dyes I thought, but I do have some powder dyes which are quite nice. The UV are Rit Dyes. I have a box of "dyeing pastels" which are Japanese, no instructions, and a Japanese marbling kit which looks simple. Those last are liquid, so I'll pack appropriately and lie to USPS.

Ninzy! Yes! send a couple on over and i'll see what's up with dyeing them.
Also, do you think your dad will still be able to look for scarves?
Dharma trading is the cheapest i've been able to find. Cotton 15" by 60" are 3.01 if i buy over 60 of them. silk 11"x60" are 3.32 if i get over 12. I'd have to email and ask if they give another discount after 50 or so.
Anyway, if he can beat that taking into account shipping etc. We need to go for it. I prefer the silk for dyeing if I was being particular, but the cotton is actually better as a facemask scarf. I go back and forth with my reasoning. lol

This one is just hitting too close to home, cedar fever is killing us here. Buy stock in Kleenex, we are going through them.

I am continually amazed and excited. A little thought, a glimmer of an idea, and then it starts coming together. I love this place.

I tried linoleum block printing but then discovered another, much faster, easier and cheaper way. Block of wood. Dollar store sells these thin little sheets of rubbery foam for crafts. Cut out the rubbery foam into shapes and glue on to the wood with white glue. Dries fast but there might be a faster way to glue... Then treat just like a linoleum block. Made curtains last year for our trailer and block printed. I used plain old latex paint since I wasn't worried about washing it a lot (ever). I liked how it worked. I'll try to grab a pic of how it worked out.

So, at 2:24am I wake up from a dream in a panic because I don't have enough batteries for my strings of lights.

I'm buying batteries this weekend.

And more paint.

I woke up in a panic because I was on the playa and had lost my craving for fudge or bacon and it was the only food I had!

I woke up dreaming the hippies were stealing our camp spot because Larry was working and Genius was nowhere to be found. I talked and talked to them, but they wanted to occupy our prime place under the overpass. Overpass?
