Ashes Dust and Stones

Post by goathead » Sat Jul 30, 2011 2:22 pm

Another new year for us.
Hard to believe I have been doing this 3 years now.
I still enjoy being able to do this for people.
Here is a little better picture of some stones I have made.
If you have any questions please feel free to PM me.
I do this year around for Burners.
If the sun is shining.
:D

You will find us at Inner Circle @ 9:00
Down across the street from Center Camp.

Thank You
New thread, for a new year of waiting, for next year, and HOME again.

It was a beautiful day today, and I was able to make some more stones for another burner.

From last year.

I was given the chance to do something special today for a burner.

I melt playa dust with a big fresnel lens into small rocks that resemble Indian teardrops.

Today I mixed some ashes into the playa dust and made her a small stone.

If you are bringing out some ashes to the temple or to scatter and would like to stop by and have a small stone made with some ash and playa dust please stop by.

Just a very small pinch of ash is all I need.

I am part of the HomeBrew4AHomebrew camp.
goathead is also my playa name.

Thank you for allowing me the chance to do something for you.

These are just BRC stones, no ashes.

A link to last years thread.

If I can be of service to you please let me know.
Thank You

Hopefully you'll be making some of these when I drop by to say hi!

I remember you mentioning these last year, but this is the first I've seen the stones. Those are beautiful! Are these the same composition as the actual BLACK ROCK of the Black Rock Desert?

This is STILL one of the neatest, most touching, unique gifts on the playa.

the mornings are best, when the sun is bright, before any breeze picks up and the dust in the air is light.

What is the process? Pile a bit of playa in a crucible and melt?

I sure hope the right people see this. It's an amazing opportunity to have something really beautiful made of your loved one.

....and in 2 weeks I'll get to see Ron again when I get to Arizona....

...........................perhaps a little more stoned than he was last time I saw him.........................

(hahahahaha)

But seriously folks. Remember this man and his offer. It's a beautiful thing!!!!!!

Then passed right by- And never knew.”

The stones above I made for my step dads kid

His daughter to her stone back to NJ where a new born son of his is buried.

She left the stone at his grave.

I am sure Dave would have approved.

He would have cracked up to hear you say that, Delle!

I can almost hear him laughing!!! :D

(love that laugh of his...)

One of his 2 stones will be with me on the Playa, and some of his ashes will go to the Temple.
I think he would approve.

I promised to bring 'him' to Rainbow Bridge at Lake Powell.
Now 2 & 1/2 years later, I finally have a solid plan to go there with the rest of 'him' in September!

How big is this fresnel lens? I've got a letter-paper sized one. It burns wood and stuff instantly, but I don't know about playa dust. Sounds cool though.

The one I have is about 2.5' x 4'. On a sunny day you could melt steel with it.
