Any Eplayans goldsmiths/jewelers or have any recommendation?

Postby Minxy » Fri Jul 29, 2011 1:08 pm

I'm looking to get a custom wedding ring made and I thought it'd be cool to ask here before seeking elsewhere. =)

I'd prefer someone local to either the SF Bay Area or Portland, OR as I hang in both places.

I'd much rather have my ring crafted by a Burner rather than not.

If you know of or are one yourself, please holler at me in a PM?

I hope this post isn't against the rules as I'm not advertising anything or asking anyone else to, just seeking a service. :P

What would be cool is someone who DID jewelry casting on the playa... Did the melt on playa (add your own playa dust?) , maybe a treadle centerfuge run by the person getting the ring? Damn...

You know, that's funny... I was just playing with basicly that same idea a few days ago. I've been casting pewter for many years. Hmm.. maybe next year... :)

Me too... was melting some dimes for a dropcast... walked into my sewing room to grab a beer (how many people have a beer fridge and vodka freezer in their sewing room, I wonder?), looked at my old Treadle singer, and thought, Damn, I could make one hell of a 'fuge out of something like this...

Been toying with re-doing my Novgorod Wolfshead ring in Silver... hmmm...

Exactly what I was picturing when you mentioned a treadle centerfuge. :D
Could easily score a cheap or free one off of CL in the next year. :)

The most beautiful wedding ring I've seen was iron.

Damascus iron and steel, heavily acid etched, then dipped in gold and burnished.

I find few online that come close to what I've seen.
Most are made from mass produced damascus out of china.
The deep etching and true hand forged metal has a different look.
Just an idea.

I can find out where it was made.

Not sure it's appropriate to post her website, but thanks for the kind words! Minxy, I'll PM you... We're sort of SF Bay Area.

As a recommendation/reference, sure. If I was advertising my own site as an attempt to sell, no.

Nothing wrong with a little friendly referral ;)
