Yes that’s right, tickets for the tri-state (and beyond) regional burn, Scorched Nuts, are now on sale.

Scorched Nuts will take place this year from June 9 thru June 12, 2011 at Reclaim in Rutland, Oh.

The theme is Hide ‘N’ Seek.

2 things this year have changed! Pets are out and Kids are in!

Tickets are currently $40 per adult ($10 per child) until June 6. Gate sales are available this year. Gate Sale Tickets for all ages will be $80.00. (That is NOT a typo.)

Go to www.scorchednuts.org to buy your tickets on line. All tickets are will call. There is an option to donate the Arts Grant Fund when you check out. Please consider donating as this helps brings that wonderful eye candy to the Event.

The gate will open at 2 PM on June 9 for all participants to enter.

Be sure to read the Survival Guide. There are changes since last year!

As always, VOLUNTEERS, helps make the Event happen. Please check out the Volunteer page on the website, www.scorchednuts.org to see what you may want to help with!

Participation at SN11

Scorched Nuts is a 10 Principles event, meaning that we are dedicated to following the 10 Principles outlined by the Burning Man Project. However the key ingredient to making Scorched Nuts a successful event is for everyone to PARTICIPATE! Every person who joins us for the event is expected to find some way to give of themselves with the goal of making a better community for everyone. Each individual pays there way here, there is no compensation for performance, volunteer work or artwork. Everyone is here as an equal, and as such we all have part to play.

Email participate@scorchednuts.org to sign up for a shift!

There are many ways, great and small, to Participate. You can volunteer with one of our volunteer teams, from Medics to Earth Guardians, and give a few hours of your time to making our infrastructure run smoothly. You can register as a theme camp and offer some sort of interactive experience. You could make a special food or beverage to share with the other Participants. You can dance, sing or hand out gifts to show your joy with being part of the community. The options are as limitless as your imagination.

Gate Keepers
The majority of Gate shifts will be filled before the event, so please let us know if you can spare a few hours to meet and greet our incoming Participants. This is a great way to meet new people and get acquainted with our community. Gatekeepers will be required to go through orientation with the lead before their shift and will be held responsible for any sales made during their shift. A great way to participate with Gatekeepers during the event is to spend some time with them at the gate! Step up and find out if there are any shifts that still need covered, help cover restroom breaks or bring snacks to share! Shifts: 4 hours shifts during gate hours

Earth Guardians
This is a pack it in, pack it out event. There will be no dumpster service at the event so please make arrangements to remove ALL of your waste yourself. Make an effort to reduce excess packaging before arrival and recycle all materials possible. Be aware of MOOP (Matter Out Of Place), and pick up everything the moment it is dropped. It is expected that we will leave the campground in better shape than we found it. The Earth Guardians help ensure that we meet these expectations and you become an EG the moment you stop to pick up trash! We will need volunteers to stay at the close of the event and sweep through the grounds to ensure we do not leave a trace. Also this year the Earth Guardians will help Reclaim regrow after we leave by spreading new grass seed on the worn areas. This is an incredibly important role to volunteer for since this is the deciding factor as to whether we are able to return to this site next year. Please take this seriously and offer up some time. Shifts: 2-4 hours during event/ 2-4 hours Monday after event.

Lamp Lighters
The Lamp Lighters will be recruited on site and before the event to assist with the ceremonial lighting of the lanterns. This is a group with a long history in the Burner community and Lamp Lighting can be a simple but elegant way to add to our event. The lanterns will create beauty as well as providing light for our paths and roadways. At the end of the event we will need volunteers to help remove the lantern holders and check the ground for wax or debris. Shifts: 1 hour at dusk, 2 hours at close of event to retrieve materials.

Medics
The Medics are very important for our event. To be a Medic we ask that you are CPR certified. You must become familiar with the Emergency Plans and follow procedure at all times. We will have a Medic station at the stage which will have a radio to reach the Medic and other on duty help. Cell phone service is spotty, but we do have reception at the Medic station, so if you have an emergency, find a Ranger and get to the stage immediately. Shifts: 6 hour shifts as on call Medic.

Rangers
Rangers are participants in the role of non-confrontational mediators, and work throughout the grounds and its perimeters to ensure the collective survival of the community. Rangers are the mediators of public safety and providers of information. By encouraging and facilitating communication, the Rangers promote awareness of potential hazards. They address situations within our community that would otherwise require outside intervention. There are a few safety hazards for which outside intervention may become necessary, such as burning art that is not your own or physical violence against others, to name a couple. Rangers are emphatically not the police or a paramilitary organization. Violation of these rules, or violent or anti-social behavior, can result in revocation of your ticket and ejection from the event without refund. Shifts: 4 hour shifts.
