Answer 1 - Wasn't there someone else looking for "those" camps a week or 2 ago? Oh, you said "POLKA", not "POKE-uh"...

Answer 2 - Cotati, California, same weekend as BRC.
If anyone has the need or want for some music at their camp I'll play anywhere, anytime, just let me know.
Okay - it's my seventh burn, but I'm still looking around for how to get my theme camp activities listed in the WhatWhereWhen for 2011. I'm with Cartoon Commune (it's fourth year), and we'll have a little stage, a little amp, a mic, and a bunch of activities, a couple of which include open mic time. Can you lead me to the sign-up area??

It's not up yet. Start from the main site (burningman.com) and there's links to calendars, one year-round, one for the playa.

Silvermouse seeks stages to share love

Postby silverjojo » Sat Apr 16, 2011 6:28 pm

**moderator - this is posted again from the main forum - i posted first there by accident, but this is where it belongs... can you delete from there? i can't... thanks**
Silvermouse is looking for places to play... we call our music Earth Trance... hard to describe, you have to listen, kind of acoustic gypsy meets techno zippy in a psychedelic land with diamonds in the sky...
http://silvermouselive.com

we play electrocacoustic - there are 2 of us (we're a couple actually - and we have a 2 year old). i'm from london originally and justin is from a little all over the usa.

justin is madskillz multi-instrumentalist - electric guitar, electric violin, mandolin, didgeridoo, flute, hand drums.

i am laptopagogo baby. all live creation and mixing of beats, heavy bass, earth rhythms

it all bends and blends and weaves into one sound - earth trance

this will be our first burn - last year we had linked up with some fantastic people to play, were stoked, but then we got stuck in the uk after summer tour there with an expired greencard, so i wasn't allowed to come back into the country (oops!)

we are back now!!! and getting it together once more for burning man 2011... can't wait.

http://silvermouselive.com

you can visit our website to listen to the latest track - ziggy and me - it's the first track off our 2nd album, space country (we're in the studio working on this right now, it'll be out later in the year)... the first track gives a taster tho...

there are other tracks to download and a copy of the first album to listen to.

you can also check out http://myspace.com/silvermouselive and http://soundcloud.com/silvermouse

please get back to us with any ideas you might have - we can't wait to play with you and let the silver wee mouse run free in the desert

Yeah, I tried the links to calendars. It took me to a spot where I started to enter our camp's activities and was about to click "submit" when I noticed I'd just entered activities for 2010!! WTF?! So I carefully backed out of that thread! Ain't that a little clunky that one can still add stuff for last year?!

But yes, apparently, I'm jumping the gun. The powers that be haven't called for WhatWhereWhen entries yet for 2011. But - to paraphrase - READY WHEN YOU ARE, L.H.!!!!

Our set is approx 45 minutes, requires a total of 8 inputs (4 mics, DJ, electric drum kit), and we have some neat lights & lasers we'll bring along. Absolutely NO fee - this is our gift to the playa, we want to play some cool songs for some cool folks. Please contact info@audoria.com

Looking for aerial rigs

Postby MeanderAva » Tue May 24, 2011 4:12 pm

Hello all, name's Stacey but some folks call me Meander, or Turbo. I first attended Burning Man in 2007. Since then I have been undergoing a process of self evolution. Last fall I began a professional training program for aerial arts at the New England Center for Circus Arts. One of the acts I made is on aerial fabric and it is a metaphor for the formerly mentioned process. I'd like to perform at least one more time on the playa, so my journey can come full circle and I can let it go, and begin the next process. I can provide a video example if you'd like. Thanks so much for your time, and hope to hear from someone!

Hello burners and burnetts. My first burn was last year, year of the double rainbow, and this year i would really like to be more involved and less of a spectator. I am a DJ from the Santa Clarita valley (North LA) and i specialize in spinning classy fun house music sets for lounges and bars, and more electro house and dub and moombah for clubs and parties. I run of Pioneer CDJs, so if thats your camps dj setup I'll have my cds and cans in hand and ready to go.

Postby Medium Troy » Mon May 30, 2011 6:05 pm

Hi I'm Yonaton from the "Bohemian Dub" band Medium Troy. We are playing burningman this year (2011) and we are looking for a few more big stages to play (we are a large band with decent amount of bass). We are really hoping to collaborate with a wide range of artists and camps. Artists that have influenced us include, Gorillaz, Sublime, Beats Antique, Beck, Dan The Automator, Gotan Project, Thievery Corp.

Crew Background
Sound Guy: Calyn Kelly
Sound guy at the historic WOW Hall in Eugene for 4 years, he currently does booking for the Hall and our band as well. He has done sound for hundreds of national bands of every genre. He is down to put in a few shifts at some sweet stages.

Lights: We are rolling with a professional lighting tech with full gear, I don't want to post his contact on a public forum without asking permission first though. But he is down to collaborate.

Band: Medium Troy
We are a "Bohemian Dub" band from Eugene, Oregon. We are a 6-10 peice band who plays an eclectic live mix ranging from folk to rock to glitch-hop (Drums, Bass, 2 Guitars, 2 Keys, 1 DJ/VJ who plays Trumpet, Sax, Sampler, 2 Vocals). We are really into genre twisting and playing a diverse set with a range of styles.

Experience:
We have played the Van's Warped Tour twice, Oregon Country Fair Mainstage, Tayberry Jam Reggae and The Mountain twice, Sasquatch Brewfest and the Eugene Celebration Mainstage twice. We have also done support for a wide-range of international artists including Barrington Levi, Russell Batiste and friends, Anthony B, Eek-A-Mouse, The Abyssinians, State Radio, Pre Arrest Lil' Wayne, March Fourth Marching Band, Albino! and many more. This summer so far we are booked for Seattle Hempfest Mainstage, Mystic Garden Party, Bikes To Mountains, Tayberry Jam, and the Jefferson State Hemp Expo.

Hi, I'm Smen!

Smen
There is an audience. I don't know how to find it, but people love stories--I know, I must read hundreds of novels a year. (At least I did when I couldn't work, and even now I"m well into dozens.) If nothing else, you'll be able to find small groups around and tell them. One thing, most people's attention spans goes way down at the event. There's just too much going on. Make whatever adjustments you feel will work with that.

Doverspike, Awesome Bass Music

Postby Doverspike » Wed Jun 08, 2011 11:52 am

Hello, I am Doverspike. A producer and DJ from Pittsburgh, PA. This will be my first Burning Man experience. I have heard many good things from people over the years and can't wait to come out this year.

I'm looking to perform as much as possible. I love exposing people to my music almost as much as they seem to enjoy it. I have opened for some pretty big acts, such as:

Bassnectar
Lotus
High Rankin
Borgore
Vaski
Datsik
Keoki
AC Slater
Bassbin Twins
B. Rich
DJ Kentaro
and many more.

I am always digging for fresh music so you'll always hear a new set from me, even if i play a bunch. lol.

Check out some of my original tracks/remixes on soundcloud.

There is a list of free downloads at the bottom. Also, check out this DJ mix by me.

dj

Postby reality » Thu Jun 09, 2011 8:47 pm

I would be interested in performing. I go by The Filthy One, I'm a dj/producer. Been playing for 10+ years, and this will be my 7th year at Burning Man. I play all forms of EDM. Electro, Tech House, Breaks, Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Drumstep, Hip Hop. I ran Camp Ellipsis in 2008, I also helped build and performed for the Opulent Temples art car in 2009. Both loaded with 80,000 watts of sound. My girlfriend (seen in the pictures below) also plays and is a amazing hooper.

Hello good people!

My name is Rob and I am an Irish guy living in London who is verturing to the Playa for the first time this year, I really cannot wait!

I work in London as a DJ under the guise of Badbob, and whilst not trying to big myself up, I do play in the biggest clubs alongside the big names and run some really successful nights. But that is immaterial because I genuinely get a buzz from playing out no matter if it is a superclub or in my living room!

I play big bassy electro/techno, big builds and epic drops are my signature. It is music really best suited to nighttime when the party is well and truly kicking. This is my favourite music to dance to too and I tend to dance my ass off whilst playing out. I like to think that my music and my attitude give out positive vibes!

I do not post mixes online as I feel they are very contrived, but if it is important for people to hear a mix then pm me and it won't be a problem.

So if you are reading this and can help me in my quest for some sets at this years event I would be eternally grateful. I already have butterflies of excitement about Burning Man and am super keen to share my music, would really make me feel involved and that is what I want most!

I hope to hear from you soon.

Love,

R :P
Irish DJ going to Burning Man for the first time in 2011 and excited as hell about it! Very much wanting to share my beats with all you fantastic people so if you can help, please get in touch and the world will reward you when looking to spread your art!

DJ KidHack on playa again.

Postby kidhack » Tue Jun 14, 2011 12:19 am

Another year, another post, another DJ looking to play out at Burning Man. I've had some epic times DJing out there over the past 12 years. I always find random and fun gigs through here, hence this post.

I'll be out a week early again.

I spin a variety of electronica including drumstep, glitch hop, dubstep, house, breaks, dubstep, tech house, minimal techno and banging electro.

Past DJ gigs of interest include: Burning Man Decompression SF 2009, Burning Man Precompression SF 2011, Live 105 BFD 2011 , 2008 DPW ladies night, 2010 BMIR, Shiva Vista Project 2008, Narwhal 2010, Cal Academy of Science: NightLife, and other various festivals, events, sound camps & art cars over the years.

To learn a bit more about me check out my site: http://djkidhack.com
or listen to my mixes on SoundCloud: http://soundcloud.com/kidhack

Hey everyone! I'm James... and I'm not a DJ!

This is going to be my first Burn and I'm looking to get involved in some live music. My primary instrument is saxophone, which I've been playing for 15+ years. I was a jazz performance major in college, toured with a reggae band in every state east of the Mississippi, and have extensive experience with jam sessions, free-improv, reggae, marching (n'orleans style!), blues, funk, etc etc etc

I also have some chops on guitar, voice, harmonica, hand drums, percussion/shakers, keys, kazoo, humming, whistling... (you get the idea).

What I'm looking for ideally is people to collaborate with...

either in a casual setting (such as maybe a weirdo 3 piece midnight deep-playa improv)...

or a formal staged/public setting (jazz jam session, blues rock out, etc)

feel free to PM me here, or you can reach me at jamesragusa@gmail.com
