BM Marching Bands

Postby eljaniovich » Thu Apr 07, 2011 1:08 pm

Anyone have contact info for the marching bands at Burning Man? I want to hook up with one and participate in the Marching Band festival. I play the pocket trumpet, well, any trumpet. Lead, soloist, solid section player.
Looking for info on how to hook-up with a BM marching band. I want to participate in the marching band festival.

I knew someone would take it there. Not even. Nor is it like a slide 'bone either. It does requiring fingering with 3 fingers though.

The Extra Action Marching Band made quite an impact on me when they descended dramatically upon Center Camp about 30 seconds after a friend of mine accepted an engagement ring there one evening in 2008. It was so spectacular that it looked like an intentional celebration. (It totally wasn't. Just one of those amazing things that happens.)

I have no idea if they are in attendance or whether they're accepting new musicians, but they were very impressive.

eta: I am really enjoying track 2 ("A K S") in their music section.

Well, I knew somebody would go there and I put it there anyway. So - no worries. I hear it all the time when I say I play the 'pocket trumpet'.

Here's a video of me playing -

Savannah, a few years back my Wife's b-day(happens every year) was on the Playa.. As the sun was setting our camp was getting ready for a b-day party... The BM Marching Band came by just walking.. I yelled out about my Wife's Birthday and they made a sharp turn into camp and played a few songs... The whole neighborhood showed up.. What a blast.. I grabbed a ice chest full of cold beer and opened the lid....... Beer flew out...... 8) 8) 8)

Made her day... 8)
I was Born OK the 1st Time....

Don't bring defaultia to Burning Man, take Burning Man to defaultia...... graidawg

There are several bands for you to research...
Extra-Action, March Fourth, The Burning Band, and Titanium Sporkestra (which, I believe, is a real, year-round extravaganza out of Seattle(?) - maybe not what you're looking for, but...)...
Good luck!

I am a euphonium/baritone horn player, and I'd love to join in with the playa brass band next year - anyone have contact info for them?
Thanks,

This is a test...

I wasn't there for their performance either, but I later dug this up on the interwebs. These guys tear it up, you better bring some noise

Hope they make it this year!
Don't worry, it'll get weird...
