Pony Girl Express! New Theme camp. Open for applicants.
We are starting a theme camp this year called The Pony Girl Express. Our camp management are two people from lamplighter stock, and a couple of volunteers we have picked up along the way. We are definitely virgin-friendly, but also welcome the dusty family to join us.
Are you ready to take part in an express courier service on the Playa as your pony self? We are setting up a stable that can take 10 ponys with or without handlers. We are looking for serious applicants to be members of our camp. You bring your kit and we will set up a schedule for a work shift for you. The schedule will be light, one round a day so the rest of the day/night is yours. There are news papers to deliver as well as any special orders that we get in. Light work just delivering anything, anywhere for anyone. There are other camps that make things that could possibly use our skills, we are looking into that now. We have the use of a small cart that would be great for ice deliveries or people transport for the stronger horses.
What we have:
"Stable" tent - use this as a stable/staging ground for your pony
activities, or live in it, the choice is yours. Each stall is small
for 2, but doable.
The farmhouse tent - if we fill the stable, camp managers will sleep here, and use
it as a storage space for any overflow. If we don't fill the stable,
this won't be necessary!
Some kit - but not enough for everyone, each pony volunteer should
either be bringing their own kit, or arrange with another volunteer to
share (and we'll make sure you don't work the same shifts). You don't
need much, just enough to look the part. Remember, this is all about
the show after all :)
What we hope to have:
A full kitchen - one of the camp is likely to be bringing a large RV,
with a fully equipped kitchen, with this we hope to provide...
Evening meal for all campers. Everyone will contribute to this, and
we'll have one volunteer to cook a meal for the camp each evening, Mon
to Fri, and a cold meal Saturday. Of the 5 nights, we will handle 3
of them, so just 2 volunteers needed to cook on other nights.
Contributions may be in the form of food to cook, or money for us to
provide the food, we'll see what works best.
A camp shower. Pony's must be kept clean after all!
If people think it's worthwhile, we'll pitch in for a dedicated
portaloo, so we don't have to use the general ones...
The pony-trap mail cart. We have some plans for this, but if anyone
else is better at making things, we may delegate this one!
If there's enough of us to afford it, a shade structure of some
description. This might not happen until next year.
A pony-training yard. Just some sheltered space, really. Pretty sure
we can manage this one! :P
What you need to supply:
Any food beyond what we supply.
A tent (Or RV or whatever) if you don't want to live in the stable -
please let us know so we make sure there's enough space for you.
Water. Enough to drink, wash up your plates etc, shower, and any
other water you need. We'll supply cookware washing-up water.
Your food contributions (mentioned above, to be worked out in detail later)
There will be some monetary contribution to the camp, based on how
many of the things above we manage to sort out/think it's worth
chipping in for. I guarantee this won't be much, and we won't let it
exclude anyone who can't afford it.
Your good selves.
Please respond if you are interested in this camp. If you have a question, ask and I will get back to you right away. If you have a camp that would like to have the Pony Girl Express as your delivery system , let us know. We think you have great taste! :)

apply?
I love your idea! It sounds like a blast- I will be a first timer who is camping with my long-time-burner boyfriend. He has always camped with the lamplighters but we both feel it is time for a change so that we can expand our horizons a bit. I may be a virgin but I have done my research including two local burns at Transformus. SO I am confidant that I can prepare properly for the big one!
How does one apply to be a Pony Girl? I would like to give it a go!
Currently I sing "My Little Pony" to my great dane who dances like a proper excited baby horse! I can see that spirit spilling over nicely into my own Pony roll. I in-vision a very tall main and a very swishy tail and little else- or maybe some spandex.
I will be glad to send along any info you may need- I am a wiz in the kitchen and would gladly offer help in that area along with my other duties. I can't wait to contribute my best!
What else do you need to know?

need a pony express groomer?
Hey there,
This year will be my second burn, first solo endeavor. I'm a massage therapist by trade and have experience keeping my own hoof, maine and tail fresh and clean in the desert. Think you could make some space to keep your herd of sparkle pony boys and girls happy and shiny?
Also willing to make a few night express runs if helpful :D

Just how much trouble do I get into if I say
I not only keep my own New Hampshire clean, but I do absolutely wonderful things with My Own Private Idaho.

playfully platonic pony
Perhaps, since I'm from Texas and I tend to the tame/some may say...prudish side of pony play, y'all doubt my ability to integrate with the more exotic ponies and riders.
I would like to restate my offerings as an amazingly awesome asset to any camp looking to enhance their showmanship: make-up artist with hefty theater/party application practice + airbrush, massage therapist=self explanatory but especially perfect for rejuvenating playa weary hooves and preventing the dreaded "playa foot", not to mention my vast collection of aromatherapies to lift spirits and sparkling concoctions to keep hides soft and shimmery.
One question: could a solo pony be their own "handler"? If so would this make said pony a mustang?

I don't know if this answers your question or not, but as part of Barbie Death Camp & Wine Bistro, one of our mates from Texas runs Barbie's Day Spa and has several massage therapists along for the ride. Is that what you meant?

Hi was at burning man, with lamplighters. This was my first year. A pony team visited my neighbors in a camper next door several times. She had awesome gear, I was fascinated. My girl friend was not their but after burning man she brought up her fantasy of being a pony girl. We had had some mind blowing experiences with it, as she says it is way under rated, takes you to places and emotions within you unknown. I would like to learn more about this with someone who can give me some good guidance, pointing me in the right direction with suggestions. We would be interested in meeting others, like open minded. We live in Reno/Tahoe area.
Re: Pony Girl Express! New Theme camp. Open for applicants.
Wow... apologies all who think we were incredibly rude last year - we didn't receive any reply notifications, and assumed no-one loved us...
Pony-Girl Express happened last year and was a tremendous success. It will be happening again this year, with whatever management we can manage depending on ticket availability.
We are even more open to volunteers now that we know our concept works. We have a handful of ponies this year already (last year we had just two) - but we are short handlers, so any volunteers to walk ponies around the playa would be greatly appreciated. That's not to say more ponies aren't welcome, we still have a capacity of ten ponies, so keep on volunteering please!
The primary place for organisation for the camp is a google group - [email protected] - pop on over and sign up if you're eager.
I really, really do appreciate all the love you showed us last year, and sincerely apologise for not responding. Now that I know that the notification system on here is not perfect, I'll keep a closer eye on this thread.
Hope to see you all in the dust, ponified or otherwise,
Stablemaster Rhino

For kicks, you may care to post information regarding your 2012 plans on the 2012 Theme Camps board.
