What place in line did you get?

Postby jkisha » Wed Jan 19, 2011 11:30 am

Geeze, now my number jumped up to 2953! This is the most drama I ever experience in my entire life. I'm going to have to take a double dose of blood pressure pills.

Any errors or timeouts on the page whatsoever, go ahead and refresh. You will not lose your place in line. I'm going back and forth between timeouts and getting my place right back. I'm still 125. They just released another news flash @ 10:30 saying your place is saved, we are still having probs.

You think? lol

Ok, my second refresh worked, and at least now I have the "Newsflash" message. However, I never got my place in line so I have no idea where I am.....

13,6333. I was seven minutes late as I was out at the base clinic doing lab work for my annual I'm not dead yet check up. Got a flu and pneumonia shot too. It's my birthday, so anyone who gets a ticket earlier than me, well, feel free to give me a gift.

I can count. Tier three, no doubt, unless several thousand people get tired and just drop out of line.
These are not my fuckos.

Mine showed 984 at first and for about 2 of the '60 second' timers, but then it started giving timed out errors. When it came back from that, it had changed to saying I was 3327. Shortly after that, the notice re: the freeze of the queue appeared. A bit later, it refreshed again, showing 3320 ahead. Now, there's no display, just the scrolling blue bar, so I have no idea what the status is. Quite a bit whacky. I've done this in the past and this year seems to be the most bombarded, which is odd as it seems to be using Amazon's cluster of servers and AWS, which should be very scalable. Fingers crossed. It's not the end of the world where I get them, but... *sigh* I enjoy the 'race' and feeling part of it, and since I have to travel cross-country to attend, a bit of drop on the ticket price helps out! :)

First 602, multiple connection problems, 595, multiple connection problems, 602 again, multiple connection problems, 525, multiple connection problems, then 602 again, MANY connection problems, and now it refreshes and doesn't show my place at all (but at least no connection problems). Edit: Now it's just blank; I guess they don't want to get pinged every 60 seconds while they fix things.

Skygod: the animation is just part of a static page, and it will not update your status unless there is the countdown timer. So you need to refresh the frame with the countdown. Right-click (Control-click on Mac?) the space below the animated blocks and tell it to reload the frame.

Happy birthday AntiM! (sorry I don't have any tickets, LOL)

#6,818, then closed explorer (oops) and opened firefox and #13, 689

I did everything correctly but the timeouts and refreshing and news flashes seem to indicate "technical difficulties" just the blue squares circling the drain

Do people with better online connections; dsl etc buy tier 1 & 2?
Why would they need finanncial help, unless they are borrowing a connection, it doesn't seem to add up.

I know a better system!

have everyone mail in payment, place in large kiddie pool, have a child grab handfuls of the envelopes and toss them out to adults who then count up to the first tier, rinse and repeat until tiers are counted out by adults...there ya go, problem solved.

Good hell! I'm sitting here and then my queue place jumps to ~24,000 and was counting down meaning the queue system is working again. But get this: I had taken a screenshot of the error message that it previously showed me, which had the URL of the page in it with my previous queue ID. I type it in, and immediately was sent to the tickets purchase page. I guess they really did lose my queue place.

See if your browser cache/history has your old ID and use that. It looks like: "http://tickets.burningman.com:8080/queue.php?eventid=134667&key_queue=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX&go=0" where the Xs is your queue ID.

oops, didn't realize it was posting so many times, thought I was just getting lost in the ether..posting four times like that makes me look like a whiny bitch. Oh well.

Checked history, found the old key, open in new page. Now I get what is essentially just that java frame on it's own page. And it seems to have kept my place. Not sure what happens when/if it get's down to zero. Hopefully automagically opens a new page with the order form.
I'm out of here in 2.5 hours so if it doesn't come around before then I guess I'm going to the back of the line anyway....

I was at 1845 and then got reset to 26834. I've had this same thing happen to me 3 times over the last 7 years. As much as I hate profession ticket services like ticket master this ticking system doesn't work. It would of been cheaper for me to pay a service fee to ticket master. Now I'm stuck at a higher tier ticket. This bites.

Glad it worked for you too! Though I wonder if this happened to a lot of people, and those orphaned queue places are just "sitting there" and stopping up the rest of the queue.

Kinky: check your browser cache/history if you have your old queue.

I clicked on the tickets button in Chrome @ 10:00pst and only got an error message. So, I hit refresh and then also tried in Firefox. Another error. Again, I hit refresh and then tried in Explorer. Eventually, all three displayed a number: ~2600, ~10000, and ~14000. Along came the freeze, and many many more error messages. 2600 became 22,000. Now, at 12:48pst, my best number is 6260. Maybe I'll get to buy some tickets one of these days. I am in blatant violation of the anti-multiple windows message, but I ain't closing any of them now as I've clearly learned not to trust the system to hold my place in line.
You may say that I'm a dreamer, but I'm not.

When I got back to my old place I was @ about 1,400
20 minutes later It jumped WAY down to 800
Next refresh, I was in!

So yeah, it would seem ALOT of people lost their place.

I wish the history thing worked for me...blah! I'm so bummed out. I was behind 1,500 people when I clicked the "Buy Ticket" button the SECOND it appeared at about 10:01 a.m. After the queue crashed, it put me behind 25k people. So lame. :[

similar story here. I clicked BUY the second the button appeared and I got #2,704. Then after the "glitches" I was reset to #27,525

I was looking in my history but sadly, my browser does not appear to store the info the same way.

How do you check the Cache/History? I'm only seeing this address when I clock the down arrow to look at history.

the "down arrow" history in whatever browser you are using may not be detailed enough. I had to go open my actual history page (in Chrome) and search for an url "http://tickets.burningman.com:8080" and came up with three different addresses that were all a different place in line. I clicked them and found my original one, still keeping place in line. It was just the java script window with 60 second countdown/refresh and my place.
Like I said, it went from about 1,000 to 0 in matter of two minutes. I'm thinking a lot of people "lost" their original place in line in their history and that 20,000+ number probably isn't *really* that big in reality.

seems I'm not the only one, b/c I didn't refresh more than a couple of times, my number jumped from 13, 619 or so to 27, 619! For following the guidelines, ouch.

A child in a kiddie pool, throwing armfuls of mail order envelopes to adults could have done better.
I could've used the finnancial help of tier 1, 2 or 3

off topic but; What happens when the cap reaches max, do the ones with better computers and online ticket buying knowledge get tickets and everyone else is just SOL?
