In any case, "a substance about the consistency of talc" is qualitatively vague, or meaningless.

Not sure if this is useful or not but I read or heard something close to this somewhere and it smacked me in the face in a pleasant manner...

The playa is a huge flat surface, an enormous canvas for artists to use for thier creative works of art.

I didn't use quotes and my grammar isn't perfect but I like this romantic description...it might have come from the mouth of The Hat.

I think it could be found and quoted and/or written better...just a thought.

One could argue that conceptually the idea predates all of us by at least several tens of generations.

The mother-playa is also the father-mother of our great-grand-uncle-once-removed Solifugae motherfuckers.

Thanks for the great info on the playa surface. I will probably cover those details in the entry I plan to write specifically on playa dust (it's so important to us Burners it merits its own entry!)

4) I'd run away with the circus
5) I'd blindly run away with circus
6) I'd go blind and blindly run away with circus
7) I'd go blind and blindly run away with the circus never to heard from again
8) Please do NOT allow kit to frighten away the ponies! I can afford to feed and water at least one!

Oh, uh..yea...The Playa...I'd put all that scietific chemistry info at the bottom kit!
Start with the Spanish and describe it like it is...an expansive, artist's canvas...and play ground for intense art cars, 65 foot long Yachts, lit bikes, the on fire tandem bike rider, and sooo much more...

This sparkle pony seems totally unrelated to our sparkle ponies. I don't see anything about Burning Man on this politics blog.

True. But it shows that the term did not arise in "the community" but was adopted from elsewhere.

Apparently, that blog tracked Condoleeza Rice's hair style for years.

Kinda cool in a "well if I had no life, I wish I managed to do something so ultimately twisted with it" way.

i believe "Meme" is derived from the Latin root that translates directly to mean "Herpes like infection".

The problem of having SotP translate Isotopia is that you then need someone to translate SotP into Burnish.

I know what a meme is, both in the scientific theory sense and the way its used on the Internet. I am just confused by Isotopia's statement. Most words on the list are in some sense 'memes' but I am not sure what I might be confusing.

I think he's telling me that I'm darned foolish for thinking that "Sparkle Pony" is a burnish term. Rather, it's its own meme.

Although, I never believed that "Sparkle Pony" was a burner term, I just hadn't seen anything that old, or that removed from the "community." There I go again, trying to put something into a larger context with insufficient information again.

Sparkle pony IS a burner term the way we use it. I'm not sure what your political blog, my little ponies, or anything else do to change that.

I did first learn the term Sparkle Pony online, from a Regional announce list about a year ago. Meme is described as an online term...Merriam-Websters says something like that... "Iso scores again!"

"Yurnish" (hilarious) and... "sotp scores!"

It's a tie..... "kit, you referee"

"Fishy, let's go find some ponies..........got any rope with ya'? I have water and I know where to look for 'em hide the rope! and try to be quite....Oh, yea,...granola bars might work also...what else ya' got with ya'?"

[please everyone, try not to scare them ALL away, otherwise I'll have to bring some with me and THAT get's very expensive; best they wander in]

Memes

Postby kitoconnell » Thu Nov 11, 2010 5:00 pm

One definition of 'meme' is something like an online catch phrase, yes, but actually the term originates in a theory created by Richard Dawkins and expanded on by authors like Susan Blackmore. Most online 'memes' are a subset of this larger concept.

I've actually read the Selfish Gene and have a good enough working definition of "meme." The question, as I understand it, is what did Iso mean.

I figure it's snark, but it seems a bit free-floating to me.
