Freedom is something that is in your mind. Of the factors you can control, your mind is much easier than law enforcement.

The point is that it IS illegal. Balance your idealism with realism.

Gravity is real, Laws of nature are to be obeyed, Laws of men are Ideals. lofty things they think can protect against forces of nature like, love of novelty, or desire of change. and only under the force of threat, or plight of fear keeps them in place. That IS how reality looks to me. pretty realistic.

so is nudity and especially in the presence of children, hitting suited people with a flamethrower, having a strip club on federal land, driving unregistered and unlicensed and uninsured vehicles on federal lands that couldnt pass safety or emission inspections, having alcoholic drinks in a moving vehicle... etc

i guess your realism is well calibrated. so when are you going to fullfill your civic duty and start enforcing noise ordinances? its about time you did something about that.

NV cops are awful, they even arrest other cops!
A cop in Reno was sleeping off a nights drinking in his car and caught a DUI, that's bad news if they are so cereal that they don't even give other cops a break.
um I forgot ... what is this thread about?

We have to have some way to uncover the undercovers, so- if you see a man acting suspiciously at the event ( you know, he's dressed, he isn't drinking or stoned, he isn't dancing and uses words like "yes sir/yes mam" )
& is clean cut/shaven ... he might be a cop. afaik NV cops are all straight ( unlike San Francisco cops ) The best thing to do is send over a beautiful young woman and have her offer sex to the suspected cop, she can search him for a badge and a gun & if he does have sex with her then you can at least be sure he isn't on duty.

Keeping everything honest and legal . . .

Postby Tengerguy » Mon Sep 20, 2010 11:46 am

I recommend reading -- How to Record the Cops: A guide to the technology for keeping government accountable -- This summer . . . camera-wielding citizens were arrested in Maryland, Illinois, Massachusetts . . . New Hampshire, Ohio, Oregon, Florida, and elsewhere . . . So far Massachusetts is the only state to explicitly uphold a conviction. See: http://reason.com/archives/2010/09/20/h ... d-the-cops

i'm doing my part next year and volunteer as brc ranger dickhead, enforcing all federal rules and regulations, including nudity and handicapped access.

is it an offense to impersonate a brc ranger? what do they do.. chase me in a golf cart using harsh language?

I like you, so I have to tease you.

I liked specta better when he had that zippy little in-n-out GIF.

I still think he looks like the bad guy from heroes.

Re: my comment on realism vs idealism.

You can believe all you want that illegal drugs should not be illegal.
Go ahead and light up that big fat doobie in the middle of Ring Road with the smug satisfaction that your within your 'right' to do so.
Go ahead and preach to the officers who are cuffing you and taking you to Reno about the history of hemp and marijuana usefulness.
Go ahead and preach to the judge at your hearing about your case studies and hippie rhetoric.

Your idealism is not going to protect you from the reality of court dates, time lost, monies spent and personal records affected.

I am not arguing whether or not drugs should be illegal.
I am stating that your idealistic belief that they shouldn't defies the reality of the world we live in.

Unless this is your hill worth dying on. We all have to stand for something.

I spoke as I intended.

And not more of that it was better 10yrs ago crap.

a bit presumptuous, yes? there are still things to love and admire about bman, but we wont be sharing them much since we have to intentionally exclude the public..

.. because, you know, burningman is this violently horrible place, where police have to show in force to keep from getting hugged to death by mobs

so others may feel better about it now, maybe feel safer, yet are still fucking cluless.
