Frat Houses?
After reading someone else's post, the thought of college frat house initiations popped up. I'm surprised that they haven't existed yet...
But, then again, it would probably just attract those damn college tourists... Nevermind...

I like that,...
A panty raid would be good.
Chugging Tecate/Pabst or a warm High life, ewwwww.
Pledges could collect bacon.
Build art from Moop.
And of course carry a heavy weight on a "15ft" rope to the end of the pier,...
You just have to find a way to avoid to real world frat issues. Grrr, frats.

Don't they go for the paddling thing? A paddling machine might be cool.
Of course, the shellbacks do the same thing.
And I don't even want to think about an elephant walk...

Hey, does drunken homo-eroticism for "straight" boys frantically clinging to their mainstream identities count as a rite-of-passage?

Drunken? They are quite easy to fetishize sober, thank you!theCryptofishist wrote:Hey, does drunken homo-eroticism for "straight" boys frantically clinging to their mainstream identities count as a rite-of-passage?
Besides, a raid from Comfort & Joy introducing them to the joys of being "playasexual" would do frat-boys good.
Not that I've ever done anything like that. That would be.... evil.....

wondering why homo-eroticism seems to be more socially acceptable on the playa then straight hetro sex?
a long time ago there was the "Meat Inspection Station" out on the outer ring my sweetie LMAO made it a point to get my, LMAO meat inspected, they laughed, I laughed, then they took incrimination pics, of which none have ever been posted, but which WE still enjoy and giggle about.
We enjoy sex, they enjoy sex, just in different way.
Have gays and lesbians both in our camp.
I know the answers, to bad it isn't different.

I wouldn't say its more socially acceptable, just more noticeable compared to most other US environments.goathead wrote:wondering why homo-eroticism seems to be more socially acceptable on the playa then straight hetro sex?
Trust me, I see way more hetero activity than gay, and I hang out with friends at the gay camps.
If a couple is going to be kissing in a random bar on the back streets you can almost bet its a straight couple, but everyone expects a straight couple to kiss in public and they're just part of the "background noise"; they go unnoticed by most people. If its a gay couple, they stand out and so get noticed, and commented on, and pointed out. We're not expected to be public in our attractions, even in BRC where we're more accepted.
BRC is also a fairly safe place for gays & lesbians & transgendered and just queer people to be completely open about who we are and who we're interested in. We feel safer, we're more open with our affections, and people notice because they're not used to seeing it back home: taa-daa! Socially acceptable homo-eroticism, and even though there is still less of it than hetero-eroticism it gets noticed more.
Remember- even in SF it's not completely safe to be gay. I have a friend who was just bashed while being called faggot a few days ago, & hospitalized, here in "our" city. We get jumped, screamed at, spit on, legislated against, beaten up and murdered in the wide world, but in BRC that's not likely to happen so we act in public like we would at home only in safe environments.
edit: spelling errors

I'd say more acceptable than it is at home (and your friend's experience breaks my heart, Eric) but not more acceptable than heterosexuality.
I'd also say that there is a generally sensualization* of experience on the playa, so that some straight WASP men at least feel okay wearing a tutu on Tuesday. And they like it, just like they like that being forced to wear pantyhose and a skirt in that hollowe'en in their frat...
*yes, I know it's not a "real" world, just a coinage using standard english usage.

It's one of many things that brought the wife & I together.

Nope. Turns out that a lot of people on the web know about him. I can only attribute this to all of them having parents who were at MIT at the same time he was. And then all those parents invented the internet. So, was it your mom or your dad who was at MIT?Tin Halo wrote:ygmir wrote:

It is part of the fiendishly clever manner of his marketing that he was then able to re-release that book as "Too Many Songs by Tom Lehrer" and sell one to just about everyone who had bought the first one.The CO wrote:Tom Lehrer! Hell, I have his songbook, "To Many Songs by Tom Lehrer".
Just how many people here know who Ronald Searle is? Now that would impress me.
