Mutant vehicle announcement - XyloVan is taking shape

Postby factoid » Tue May 11, 2010 8:02 pm

Stripped down, elemental, interactive: A 1985 Ford XLT Club Wagon covered with hand-built xylophones, disc gongs and tubular bells, all amplified and lit.

We're blogging its construction at http://XyloVan.com .

Anyone out there working on DrumCar, BassBus or WoodwindWagen? We can only hope.

See you out there - if you don't see us at MakerFaire first.

This looks like it'll be really really fun, factoid! Glad you finally stopped breaking taps, too.

Thx, LeChatNoir. As of this writing I have antique-white enamel drying on my hands from spray-canning the roof and rack in a too-stiff wind because I'm just that kind of idiot.

Beats working for a living. Speaking of which, back to it. A procrastinator's work is never done.

:D
I'm building The Piano Boat. (Previously known as Bigger Boat, but Piano Boat fits better.) One real piano, and one stripped piano harp that can be plucked or hammered or whatever. Oscillator is in charge of tuning (if his offer still stands).
:D
Elliot's Bicycle Service, Camel Saddlery and Beverage Salon 5 & G as before, probably.

Postby factoid » Wed Sep 22, 2010 4:20 pm

In case anyone missed it, many cool videos and photos of XyloVan in action are now up on the project blog: http://XyloVan.com

Hugely looking forward to having folks play it once more at L.A. Decom on 10/2. See you there?
