There will be a strap/cable/something going from the top center of the rack to the tailgate for added strength and security.

We have a similar set-up made from a folding wall-mount bike holder. We put bungees through the wheels so they don't move or spin in transit. Larry also looses the handle bars and turns them sideways so the bikes fit better.

Nice rack AntiM!

I would have liked to use a folding version but I'm a cheap
bastard and the parts for mine were mostly free.

Dear Bombay Tea Company:

Your rebellious cousins in the colonies have graciously offered their invitation to a Boston Tea Party to be hosted at the Mission Country Club on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 and Gremlin. Come join us for some locally brewed Samuel Adams beers and receive an enlightening and possibly painful lesson in freedom and common sense from the Thomas Paine Society (see image below). I'm sure we can settle our differences over a few hardy American beers at our camp while a several of our revolutionary brethren set fire to yours.

Regards,

Mission Country Club & The Paine Society

Aaaah, the fabulous Ripley, we'll see you on your birthday then. Excellent.

The Thomas Paine Society: Gentlemen, it's all colonies. There is no center. It's, like, a zen thing. Besides, we are rebelling against common sense. :P

I'm off!

Postby cfilson » Sun Aug 24, 2008 7:37 am

Hey! My friend is picking me up in an hour, and off we go! We're staying in Reno Sunday night, driving to the playa Monday morning..

Reading these posts is inspiring me to at least throw a corset in my bag amidst the shorts and t-shirts. I'd given up on costumes, but I feel like I should do SOMETHING.. Sad that my pith helmet and bustle will have to wait another year.

Can't wait to stop by and see what you've come up with!

xoxo

I'm back in Kentucky. The rest of the crew should be returning to their respective locations soon.

We came, we saw, we served tea. Contact was established with the bizarre occupants of this harsh desert land. The crew was harmonious and unified. Several members went native on occasion. We survived two days of complete whiteout dust-storms, saw some amazing sunsets, and watched the Man burn (oh, the humanity!) An indubitably successful venture.

I went native toward the end of the week but I think that Lawrence of Arabia can be worked into steampunk.

Tea!

Postby cfilson » Tue Sep 02, 2008 11:17 pm

Hey! Home again.. really enjoyed meeting all of you at Bomb Bay [and the service was excellent, thanks to your child labor..] I love that we accidentally ended up camping down the road from you-- nice to be in the neighborhood!

I felt like I already had friends at Burning Man, even though I'd never been before.

Thanks!
