So... WhereAreYouCamping dot com?

Post by limbo » Tue Jul 31, 2007 9:47 pm

http://whereareyoucamping.com is back online with the 2007 map and streets and lots of room for new camps!

Not sure what this is about? It's simple! http://whereareyoucamping.com is where you can let everyone know which camp you're with, where are you located on the playa and what fantastic plans you and your camp-mates have to entertain us all. Of course you can also find out where everybody else on the site is camping and what plans THEY have and so the circle goes.

Things to do:
* Join a camp or create a new one if yours isn't listed yet.
* Post a link to your camp's page on your blog so your friends know where you'll be.
* Find your friends on the site and add them to your 'favorites' list for easy stalking.
* Get your other friends and campmates who aren't on the site to join as well :)

Can't remember your login or password from last year? email me (my email address is on the website) and i'll hook you up with a shiny new password!

Love your map so much!
I see you have our theme camp, Summer of Love (was Testosterone, thanks, you got our name change on there) is at Coral Reef and 9:00) ...if you can put that in the location that'd be great.

Thanks so much!

@sunn: updated your camp to show the correct address. BTW, if you join as a member of your camp you can edit all that information yourself. glad you like the site!

@stormfeather: thanks for the pimpage. much appreciated :)

Feature request: Is it possible to show all camps within a certain area? Like 3 blocks in either direction of a given point?
It's going to be alright.

Hey Sputnik,

That's definitely a cool idea. I'm not gonna have time to add that in time for this year but i'll definitely try for next year :)

you can sort of accomplish that by sorting the list by location.
that clumps most of the camps flags together, with a few exceptions.

camps don't usually know those details (which specific corner). sometimes the address is given as a corner, but in reality, the camp is placed in from the corner, for example, at the equivalent of 7:20... but the placement info gives people the nearest corner.

We have always known exactly where we were supposed to be,
and other than some last minute BMORG space reduction, it's
been a breeze.

If you're in a group of camps; village or quasi-village, the clown
in charge should be able to tell you where your space is.

If not, your placer should.

Dumb question by a virgin #322:
Do they have a list of the location of the camps when we get to the Playa or should I print out this list? Thanks in advance.

There will be a list of registered theme camps, but not all the others, like mine. So, if you're looking to see what might be near you that isn't registered, this is a good option.
It's going to be alright.

What i heard is that Gigsville is 330 from C back toward D and E. The map has the region shaded in Blue. BDCWB is IN Wheeville to my knowledge. Some camps may be part of larger villages which will account for multiple listings at some addresses. Good idea for camps to specify specific corners and rough estimates radially. 315, 330, 345 etc should get someone close enough. Further out maybe try to use increments of .05 or .10

Gigsville is from 4:00 to 3:30, between Coral Reef & Estuary.
We have a small (60' x 100') that is not part of Gigsville

Yep. Gigsville is sharing the block with some other camps and villages from what it seems like. We'll probably be on the 4:00 side of the block.
