H O W L Workshop and Eclipse Party

Postby diane o'thirst » Sat Dec 02, 2006 4:32 pm

Image Announcing my project for the Green MAN: I'm conducting a howling chorus/workshop.

When: It will go two days, Monday the 27th and Tuesday the 28th, at 4PM each day. They'll probably go for about an hour so you'll be home for dinner.
Where: The H O W L workshop is being hosted by Safer Sex Camp, wherever we wind up being placed.
Why?: Uhmm, well...to collaborate with the natural forces around us in a low-impact, high-fun way. Oh, and I'm also working on trinkets to give out to participants. So come to the workshop; that way, when you see people walking around wearing cool wolf medallions on Wednesday and ask "Wow, where'd you get that cool wolf medallion?!?" and they say "At the H O W L workshop" you won't feel left out. Image

And Then....

The night of the 28th, during the lunar eclipse, we're reconvening at the MAN and ranging through the Man's Forest, howling and generally being wolfish/coyote-ish, so costume up. We'll be howling H O W Ls, telling stories and dancing for the Moon Goddess as She descends into the Shadowy West. This event will be starting up around 2AM and go until...whenever.

I do not know how to howl but would love to learn and take part! This sounds like a whole heap of good clean fun!! I could even try to convince my pal in Reno that I am going to camp with to join in.

Seriously, this is a GREAT idea!! I hope you make this happen! If not you deserve a trout slap for teasing us.

Got my times wrong...thanks to Mdmf007 for posting the eclipse times.

The H O W L Workshop will take place 4PM Monday the 27th at Safer Sex Camp. It'll last for about an hour, we scatter to various dens and domiciles, and reconvene at the Man around midnight that night (Monday the 27th/Tuesday the 28th) for the ECLIPSE PARTY.

And I'm getting the feeling we'll have plenty of company, because if there's a two-pronged buzz going nine months in advance...

Update Pt. II: Yes, friends, there *will* be medallions for participants in the
H O W L Workshop. I don't know what medium they'll be in, probably cold-cast copper, but I just finished sculpting the positive tonight. I'll let the resin cure for a week and make a mold shortly thereafter.

No worries Dianne o thirst, Wanted to make sure your up to see the blood moon.

I am pretty stoked about BM 2007, and may be in need of an intervention or 12 step program as I am spendoing more and more time on my BM plans.

We are planning a psuedo pagan moon worshiping that is really geared towards nothing but us having fun, dressing up, and fueling the hard core christion anti Burningman conspiravy theorists

later all. [/img]

Maybe I could get my father in law to wear his skins and spin some storys.

Like the saddle in a tree.

He was picking pine cones for seed. When he stoped to rest. He looked up into the trees. There was a old woren saddle hanging way up there. He asked some old timers about it in town. Seems there had been a bank robbey down around Shady Cove. The robber took off to Crater Lake. The snow got to deep for the horse and he came up bad lame. So the guy buried the loot and hung the saddle in the tree at snow level. As the years went by the tree grew. A lot of people went looking for that saddle. No one has ever found the thing. The old man has been back there a few times with no luck. Wounder how many people have seen that saddle and did not know the story.

Granpa as always been an out doorsmen. When he was little his mother was chuck cook and his Dad a drover on crosss country cattle drives.

/Ralphie Wiggums: "What's a howl?" /off Ralphie Wiggums.

My howl? "MOO!"

 Er, never mind. I think it may need some work. Besides, tree sloths don't normallly howl.

Anyways, I hope I can make it in 2007. Still need to figure out my money situation, esp. since I'd like to get a bus for next time. (Save time on setting up, probably won't have the zipper blow open during a dust storm like my tent did, and, maybe, I can run it on waste veggie oil and save some fuel money!)

TTYL,

Blupe

Would also like to put in a word for this project:

Uncle Fishbits has a good idea to dim our lights sometime during totality. Let's face it, how often does the moon eclipse while we're out there? Let's seize on the moment.

Imagine a city darkened, under a dark moon, maybe only green lights shining. And out of the green-touched, bronze-frosted darkness, comes a chorus of eerie, soul-stirring howls...

Well, BLEEP! I finally got a look at the Time Off book (I am second to last in senority, so it was an unofficial look), and the entire last week of August is already taken! :( Worse yet, my back up plan, which was to go to Gen Con, doesn't appear to be feasible, either, unless I am mis-remembering when in August it is! :( :(

Anybody got some spare, good karma to send my way? It will take another series of minor miracles for me to make it again anytime soon... (And, hopefully, in better health than this year-- but that almost seems like asking too much!)

B. (thinking maybe he will have to howl in frustration :!: )

Bump-o-rama-lama-ding-dong.

I will be at the Sea of Dreams on NYE in San Francisco. Watch for a black-maned wolf with birchbark markings over the rest of her body.

I think Moo is better. Might be kind of nice to have a renegade cow about. Some of the wolves and coyotes are gonna get hungry after all the howling.
