Artists seeking Stages

Postby admin » Tue Jun 20, 2006 11:50 am

Greetings!

This is a thread to help bands or DJs who are coming to Burning Man find camps (or mutant vehicles) with stages to perform on. It's sorta the flip side of Stages Seeking Artists thread, so be sure to check both.

So, if you're in a band and are looking for somewhere to perform at Burning Man, you've come to the right place! Post a reply in here and see what happens...

Hello!

I do an all original BreakBeat/DubStep Live PA, if anyone is interested I would love to bring some of my gear and play. Much of my music is inspired by what I have heard at Burning Man, to give back the last years worth of work would be amazing!

Music can be found here:
http://www.audioarchitechs.com/music.htm
or
http://www.myspace.com/audioarchitech

I also write DownTempo. I would consider creating a downtempo set if there was a place to play it.

If any DJ wants to play any of the songs, PM me for high quality versions.
Thanks!
Ben

Great topics Emily!

VJ Rainbow Puddle here looking for space for psychedelic projections. Prefer live music, psytrance, beats.

I'd consider camping where projections would be most used as video projector works out of RV window & onboard power.

This will be my 2nd year going to BM, and am looking to bring a crate of records this year and was hoping to play on a stage. I was thinking about playing last year, but wanted to experience BM withough haveing a schedule. I was bummed towards the end as I would of had many chances to play. This year I am deffinately bringing records, as It would be amazing to rock the playa with a good set of drum and bass, my style.

I have been Djing, Promoting and throwing UG event in the SF bay area for 3 years. I have a solid amount of experience, and am very confident with my DnB Skills.

I play all spectrums of Dnb/Jungle from atmospheric to soulful, and from hard hitting bass heavy tech to Epic sounds of the drum and bass side.

I prefer to start at one end of the spectrum, and slowly work my way to the other.

If you might have an open slot any day of the week, I would love to play some recs. I will be up their from the 28th through the 4th.

Looking forward to attending Burning Man once again, and playing some good tunes for all to hear...

I'm looking for places to play live electronic ambient/chill/electro music. I will bring an hour long set of new, original music that can be either a very mellow, mostly beatless ambient set, or a slightly more upbeat, glitchy, and fun electro version of the same, or somewhere in between. Last year we brought a trippy, introspective ambient set and got a great response.

Audio from last year and more info on the music can be found at http://submodern.com

I'm open to playing any time Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. All I really require is RCA or 1/4" inputs into your camp's system to hook the music gear up to, and a power source. I'm fine with playing pretty much anywhere, big camp or small, as long as there are people who are into it.

If you're interested send me a PM or email submodern@submodern.com and we'll work things out from there.

Thanks!

Funky House DJ Seeks stage / Camp to play at...

Postby yoms » Tue Jul 11, 2006 6:16 am

Hey all,

9th time on the playa and I still love the idea of throwing out a call to all, asking whether anyone is kind enough to let me come play.

I do a funky house set, that is bordering on tribal, as well as a drum and bass set.

Past mixes can be found here (http://yomster.com/music.html). Please have a listen...

I will be playing vinyl and some laptop stuff using Traktor.

Ping me at yomzz@yomster.com

See ya on the playa

Djing the playa

Postby mener » Tue Jul 11, 2006 2:10 pm

Hey everybody. My name is Mener and this will be my 8th year in a row on the playa. I've been playing funky house mixed with funky breaks for 11 years now. I've been fortunate enough to play on some decent sound systems and love it every year. I would love to drop some beats on a camp if possible. I have demos galore if you want them, holla at me.
Love, me.

DJ with a smile

Postby petdrbowie » Tue Jul 11, 2006 5:00 pm

I'm going to Burning Man again after a one year hiatus and would love to find a place to play some records. I will be arriving with my camp on Saturday the 26th and not leaving until Labor Day. I would be willing to haul some small things in my little pickup truck and am more than happy to help put together a sound camp in return for a little time on the decks.

I played at multiple camps in 2004 under the nearly full moon and it was magical. I can play anything from SF house through techno/tech house to my favorite, Breaks, tending toward the funky side but playing all kinds. One set may meander from one style to another.

Would love to get a PM from someone out there that has the space and the need.

Thanks,
Peter

HA! Mener couldn't mix a rum & coke if you told him the ingredients!

Actually, he's a long time veteran of the Re:no! and Sacramento scenes so if you're looking for a good house dj, he should be on your list. And so should I - The Unfadeable Fat SAM.

Demos by request. I spin everything from house to jungle, so specify what kind of a demo you're into. Peace.
Thanks to Addis, I had more free time.

Hello there... i understand it's a bit late for all this but I'm trying to book as many gigs as possible on the playa this year...

I have a Live PA act and specialize in downtempo and breakbeats... You can hear samples of both on myspace... Goto http://profile.myspace.com/seventhswami to hear samples of my written music... if you go to http://blog.myspace.com/seventhswami you can hear a live recording of my breaks set at Stilldream.

My partner in sound, Brandon (aka: Resynthesize http://profile.myspace.com/resynthesize1) is coming as well and we have recently created a duo named AlgoRhythm (http://profile.myspace.com/wearealgorhythm).... It is a freeform beat-heavy idm kind of sound... sadly we do not have any samples online but know that we blew the roof off at the Press Club a few weeks ago...

We are both have a very powerful stage presence and want nothing more than to bring smiles to as many burners' faces as possible this year... have sound, will travel if you catch my drift...

We even come equipped with concert PAs so as long as you have a generator and some shade we can entertain you! Send me a message if you're interested... You can also email me directly at seventhswami@gmail.com

Thanks in advance for your interest... This year is going to be beautiful!

The Bureau of Sonic Discourse is a group of sound and noise artists seeking to bring their sounds to the the unsuspecting citizens of Black Rock City. Our mission is to create an improvised, always evolving, organic sound, by having our core group play live with an ever changing ensemble of co-conspirators and special guests.

Our core group uses a variety of battery operated devices including feedback loops, circuit bent toys, contact mics, radios, and anything else that makes odd noises. Our co-conspirators this year play a variety of instruments including effected vocals, ethnic drums, singing bowls, and electrified digeridoo.

We have a gig lined up at Videogasm (plus a few other camps, iirc), but since we're battery operated, we'll be playing all over the playa, guerilla style. We'd love to line up a few more gigs though.

Also, anyone wanting to jam out is welcome to meet up with us and bring the noise. Check out our tribe @ http://tribes.tribe.net/bosd for more info.
We are the facilitators of our own creative evolution.

Hello fellow explorers. We wanted to set up an official theme camp but as we will be arriving on the heels of a tour, we couldn't quite organize it. So we are looking to help out at any other camp. What we offer: music (either rehearsed or improvisatory, rock or jazz, performance or participatory), poetry, spoken word, painting (Lindsey Kate) and general good-hearted fearlessness. We are up for anything, but the supplies we can bring are limited, coming straight off the road.

Let us know if you want to merge with us!

Got tunes...

Postby theBrooke » Wed Jul 19, 2006 1:50 am

So, this will be my sixth year out to the dirt, and I've had the pleasure of spinning every year... BRC is my all time favorite venue... Camps I've played at? Don't remember them all, but my fondest memories are definitely of Bianca's (2001) and Sol System (2004) :)

I'm basically just putting my name in the hat here to see if someone wants to snatch me up. I have no prior engagements as of yet. I will only schedule one set cause I like to be free like a bird and when I'm going to play a good amount of forethought and energy gets put into it. If not, I will find my stage on the playa... some of the best things happen that way, don't they?

If you are interested in some sexy tech thump (translation - house that blurs the lines)... listen at www.thefunkykind.com

peace,

non-DJ arrives at burning man

Postby marksilverman » Mon Jul 24, 2006 1:57 pm

that's right, I don't spin anything (aside from my grandma in her grave). I make music the old-fashioned way, with an acoustic guitar. I write and sing sarcastic and funny songs. I've been performing at the burn for six years. let me know if someone has room for me.

Dj from Europe seeking to play at the Burning man

Postby Lenstar » Tue Jul 25, 2006 4:01 am

Hi, this is my second time going to the burning man. I was there in 2005 and i am going again in 2006. I am bringing some equipment with me and i am seeking to play at a camp this year.

I'm a 24 year old electro/tech-house/techno Dj from travelling from Ireland. I know i can bring something good to this years event so i am asking if anyone has a rig i would love to help and add my part to what i believe is a wonderfull event. I currently Dj in some some of Irelands best known nights and i have never failed to impress promoters. I have beening playing for several years and this year i have decided i want to bring my laptop and some equipment to set up at this years event.

I am mostly known for my clean mixing style and playing really good bassey beats that always keep the dance floor smiling and dancing. I can't think of a better way to help out at this years event than doing what i do best

I will be bringing enough equipment to play a wider varity of music than just electro, tech-house or techno.

If you are interested please send me an email with the style of music you like to hear, even a list of records that would suit your camp and i will forward a mix of mine to suit that style.

This will be my last time visiting the Burning man for a few years so i would really like to make it the best i can so please email me.

Thank you for your time,

Lenny
All i want is to play at the burning man

Humble Music Lover Seeking Kind Speakers...

Postby djmatthew » Thu Jul 27, 2006 7:28 pm

This is a call out to anybody out there who may have a DJ set for me to play on. I am a 5 year BM veteran and a 9 year professional mobile/club DJ. I make my living by playing music all of the time (primarily weddings) so I am not looking for the spot light at all.

All I am looking for this year is to be able to bring some music and play somewhere. I don't care where it is, what time it might be, or whatever. I understand that DJ's (especially out on the playa) are a dime a dozen, so I won't even try to brag or boast.

I just want to have fun this year. As mentioned, I DJ year round; so I don't just spin techno/house music (already abundant on the playa), but love spinning funk, motown, disco, rock, etc.

I wouldn't mind people dancing, but I really am just looking to hang out, spin some music, maybe have a drink, or perhaps battle a little bit; that's all. So, if you have the equipment and are humble enough to share, then please e-mail me: djmattcope@sbcglobal.net

I will see you all out there...

i have a dream :: conscious hip hop at dusk

Postby djeko » Thu Aug 03, 2006 11:07 am

outdoors. dusk. dancing.

Yes, that's about sums it up. I'll take anytime really, but might as well state the dream. My name's eko. I'm part of urb magazine and I dj mostly around Santa Cruz and the bay area. I'm on some positive/love/groove/progressive hiphop + soul music. Even though it will be my first time on the Playa, the folks on tribe.net have convinced me I'm needed out there.

any invitations?

A house and techno dj is looking for a stage.....

Postby spacelotus » Mon Aug 07, 2006 3:29 am

Hi Everyone,
My name is Spacelotus and I am proud to say that I will be attending this years burning man. This will be my fifth in seven years and because I missed last year this one is truly going to be a great experience. I currently live in San Francisco at the moment but was raised in Detroit and Chicago. I am a house, tech house, and techno dj that is looking to play at a couple of camps. If there are any spots open please let me know. You can check out my mixes at www.phamilygathering.com/spacelotus.htm I would love to play an all house and an all techno set so no matter if you need something funky or something chunky I can deliver. I have had the pleasure to be apart of some really fun camps in the past years including light bright, bop camp, and the international burner hostel. It is awesome to be returning to burning man this year and to be able to dj would make it a dream come true. If anyone has any info please let me know.

Peace, love, and disco
