TOTAL internet cost?

Postby Fry » Sun Jan 02, 2005 12:33 pm

Could we get some clarification on what TOTAL costs are gonna be to order online?

We're told, for instance, that there will be a $10 shipping charge for first class signature. Is that per TICKET or per ORDER?

Are there more charges for handling? Will the tickets be handled by the same outfit as last year? Etc, etc...

Thanks!

I $3.50 charge for Will Call appears to be new, too. I'm not sure what that's all about.

I plan on buying a ticket for the cheapest price I can get one for.
It's still the cheapest part of the trip, and I can swing the $175 but as I still am unemployed I have no idea if I will be able to afford to go or will be able to get time off from a new job when August roles around.

So would it be better and easier to have the ticket at will call or in my hot little hand if I eventually need to sale it?

I wonder if BM pays lower fees to paypal for folks who pay with existing paypal funds vs. folks who pay with credit cards via paypal. It can/should be set up to work that way!

If they wanted to distribute server load best, they should have offered the tix at 3AM. Oh well. I'd bed the move from midnight to noon was because someone complained that midnight was too late...

No clue. My midnight (1 am MST) experiences always involved going back to sleep and getting tickets in the morning. Did get the lower priced ones, but things change so much every year ... YMMV.

not that i've tried, either this year or last, but is it at least a *little* bit better?

of course, this makes the "success through positive energy" want ad they put out earlier this year even funnier.

Totally died less than 2 minutes after launch.

Still dead for me, 30 min later, on a 100mbit connection.

Here's another error.

Postby Jesus » Wed Jan 05, 2005 1:06 pm

A (non-techie) friend got close to putting in an order - got to the entering her personal info page.
FYI, the Burning man ticketing operation is completely outsourced to some folks (inhousetickets) who are affiliated with BM. The tech team doesn't do it.

Here's another error. Looks like things are just getting worse.

Whaddya know?

Postby Fry » Wed Jan 05, 2005 2:11 pm

1:32 here in the boonies, and I've just successfully placed my order after a (relatively) minimal amount of bombs.

Seems much better than last year.

There is a $2.75 per ticket charge, and a $1 per order charge, and shipping is per order. $16.50 for 2 tix with first class signature.

Got mine.

Postby Jesus » Wed Jan 05, 2005 2:54 pm

Took close to 2 hours...
Finally got to paypal and still had problems - they wouldn't take my credit card. Haven't received my confirmation # either. But Paypal says the transaction went through. This doesn't work yet (from the bm website):
If you did not receive a confirmation number, follow this link to email yourself a copy of your current orders:
http://tickets.burningman.com/confirm
It says "There are no current transactions found for <my email address>"
Not a stress-free transaction by a long shot. Though I suppose some folks have yet to make a purchase at all..

Ticket Purchase... No Problem

Postby billvaxman » Wed Jan 05, 2005 4:42 pm

I just bought 2 tickets... and it went smooth as glass. Course I waited til 15:30 to do so and didn't try jumping on right at noon.

And I didn't try getting the lowest price tickets possible... I can afford more so I pay more and leave the lower priced tickets to the people that need em. I don't know if that made a difference in the purchasing experience.

I used PAYPAL and the shipping charge was PER ORDER, not PER TICKET as someone in a previous post asked.

I say, good job guys... much better than last year...

Postby desert damnaged » Fri Jan 07, 2005 1:13 pm

Caution! friends ordered 2 $200.00 tickets got confermation# back.
bank account charged for $800.00 plus. checked for other
conformation # to see if mistake was made. no #.
They can't contact a person. just email and wait. bank says
money is gone untill resolved. Talk about hungry kids, and
and bills not getting paid! :(
My 5th year at the dust. never this kind of problem. I gift four
full price tickets a year to newbie friends. I have told them to
wait untill corporate figures which way is up......

soar and enjoy [/u][/b]

solutions to problems

Postby bex » Mon Feb 07, 2005 6:38 pm

tell your friends to go here:
http://www.burningman.com/news/ticket_info_05.html

the in house team is really good about getting back to people and making things right.

you can also email us at partiserv(at)burningman(dot)com

if you ordered online you should start with the first link because they have direct access to your info.

hope that helps.
