Tired of trance? BOOTIE BRC mashup bootleg party - Thurs/Fri

Postby Piss Clear » Tue Aug 22, 2006 3:22 pm

Tired of trance and techno? Sick of breaks and house?

Hey look, we love anonymous-sounding, thumpy dance beats as much as the next glassy-eyed, clenched-jawed Black Rock City denizen ... but we must admit, we're getting a little tired of the same ol' generic "Burning Man rave camp" sound.

Which is why we're bringing mashups to the playa! BOOTIE, the mashup bootleg party we throw in San Francisco and Los Angeles, is coming to Black Rock City!

Image

Imagine a mind-bending genre-clash of everything you love, thrown into a blender and mixed to perfection. Michael Jackson singing with Nirvana. Madonna fronting the Sex Pistols. Usher as a member of the BeeGees. Depeche Mode and Goldfrapp playing together on the same song. That's the idea -- twice as much music in half the time! Music to shake up your brain while you shake your ass!

DJs Adrian & the Mysterious D present
BOOTIE BRC
Black Rock City's mashup bootleg party
, spinning only the finest bootlegs and bastard pop.

THURSDAY AUGUST 31
FANDANGO

Chance & 5:00, Black Rock City, NV
9 PM – late
Drink at the infamous Fandango bar and get your groove on. We'll be spinning mashups until we're too drunk to hit the play button (and even then, we'll probably still try...) Guest DJ Malderor joins A+D on the decks. Midnight mashup show from Adrian, singing live!

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 1
OUTPOST AUTOSUB

Esplanade & 3:30, Black Rock City, NV
9 PM – late
We'll be blasting mashups right there on the Esplanade, giving Burners something to dance to besides trance and techno! Don't miss the midnight mashup fire dancing show!

We've been "gifting" Bootie CDs since we started this party! So of course, we'll be giving away free 10-track mashup CDs all night! See you there!

bootie mashup

Postby Mystery Girl » Tue Aug 22, 2006 3:49 pm

Indeed. People actually use creativity and talent to create these indivudual tracks....and you can't just walk into a record store and buy this stuff like other DJ music!

And since most of the material is copyrighted and owned by big record companies, the people making and releasing these tracks do it for art's sake alone, to get the music out there for people to enjoy, not for profit.

I've got several hours of mash-ups on my HD right now, many of them linked from the BOOTIE website; I can't wait.

Forgive the philistine. Some people just never learn what art is.

Like I'm going to have a shortage of outfits. Don't worry, already have an outfit for Fandango Bootie.

Is there anything more ridiculously gay than dry-cleaning stuff before you take it to the playa?

My name is Eric, and I have a clothes problem.....

I've been fighting the urge to ask if anyone in my camp is bringing an iron so I can touch up my Magenta apron before the show Friday night. You just made me feel a whole lot better. ;-)
