LOL! I should be careful how I answer that! How about, I'm pretty sure I indulged three times. The second one was probably best.

There's no hard feelings on my side. I also noticed we're in a similar Facebook group. I'm pretty sure we'll cross paths at some point in the future. Offer's still good!

For what it's worth (in case there are spectatorsparticipants) we moved it to Wednesday at noon since I'll be getting in sometime Monday evening.

If I didn't give you a cold drink, or hug you, or look at you half-naked, or spilled something in your tent, or broke something in your camp, or said something taken wrong, or rode you around on my chariot, or told you that you are beautiful, or told you to fuckoff, or told you both...I truly regret that.

Every year I write up notes the moment I get home (before memories fade) about what worked and what didn't on the playa. Personal, infrastructure, food, etc.... Helps plan the next year. 2012 was an amazing burn that will be very hard to ever top, but one of my main notes from last year was "rest more".
So I did. Sadly this year I felt like I missed out on a lot of stuff when I was sleeping/resting, but when I was out and about I was alert, awake, and not a zombie which was great. So it's a crapshoot on what was better. Most of my camp mates are younger, and try as I might, I can't party (and recover the next day) like could when I was 22.

Not exploring more. Daytime I slept/rested, evenings (my favorite time to explore) I was chilling in camp. Then I spent every night-sunrise at sound camps dancing. I had a great time doing it, and heard some amazing music, but looking back I wish I'd remembered it's not just a music fest. Sunday afternoon was my only deep playa visit and I was kicking myself for not spending more time out there.

I built a art bike this year (dual tandems with a canopy) and it was amazingly fun to ride around with friends... I never even set up my normal bike for night time riding... I feel that limited my night time explorations... Riding the art bike was a blast, but tiring, I think if I'd had a normal bike out most nights I could've peeled off and explored more. It's just after putting so much work into it (art bike) pre-event I almost felt obligated to ride it every night.

Spend more time enjoying early in the week. My first year was 2011, and even then I noticed that starting around Thursday eve the playa just becomes... too packed. I've always really had a lot more fun out there Sun-Thurs... Fri to the end it's just a different vibe, and I'm not a fan of it.

I was also involved with a art car this year, and it was... not as much fun as I wanted it to be. Art car's are great, but they limit you to where they wind up, and someone needs to stay sober to drive it... If there ever was a place for Google's self driving car tech, it's the playa!

Finally, I should have hooked up with the super cutie who was all over me Tuesday night, but didn't, because I was sober and she wasn't. After 5+ hours of fun times together that night with no drop in interest on her part, it should have been clear she actually was into me, and just tipsy and "in the moment".

Hey no problem. For what it's worth, Interstellar and 5 was among the most boring intersections I saw. I got there a bit after 12 and waited long enough to sip my way through a quart of water. Plus, when we originally set this up, I wasn't even dating anybody, but since then, I was, and brought her for her first burn and wanted to be available (in the end, she didn't need much tending-to.) And that also meant that a lot of the motivation for meeting new people was somewhat constrained. :)

Let's call it room to improve:

One of the best photo ops I think are the post-rave sunrises. Yet, I only partook in one (in full). I got about 20-30 keepers from my digital camera (of only 85 on said camera). Should have packed a roll of B&W and a roll of color. The photos are fine, but I was aiming for film by day, digital by night.

This is a regret:

I have... uh... had a nice DSLR, but I only used it for about 20-30 photos of my girlfriend... coincidentally in her birthday suit. I left this camera out amongst 5 much lesser expensive film cameras. The day before I left the bay area to go to Tokyo, I came back to my hotel after work to find the hinges busted off the door, the film cameras and my shitty lap top in tact, but said DSLR, lens, and flash gone. I hadn't downloaded the pictures either, as I didn't want to accidentally bring them up at work.

Clearly house keeping had tipped off someone, and they came breaking down the door. Live & learn.

Clearly the housekeeper, because you sure seem like a quite and humble dude when it comes to your cameras, no one would find out from you that you take photos.

Could you have known what hotel and room number I stayed in? Could you have walked in fast enough to grab the only one of real resale value, ignoring 5 others and the laptop? If someone figured out my real life identity and stalked me for a 2 year old, out-dated model DSLR, I guess they deserve it. Very doubtful though, as the only cameras I've made mention of the last few months are $20 range finders that are well older than me. Kind of a fluke I even brought it.
