You know whats worse than sitting in your camp waiting out a nasty dust storm at Burning Man? Waiting out a nasty dust storm next to some dill hole whos on his cel phone describing said dust storm to his sister in law.

Yes it's happened to me & it sucks ass.

I join in public phone conversations.

It always seems like they're asking you questions anyway.

I do too! I figure they MUST want my input if they are talking that loud and annoyingly.

I like (i think it was) JKisha's idea about hollering like the kids are in restaurants too. I have laid (lain, layed?) down on the floor at the grocery store and started kicking my legs and yelling next to a kid throwing a fit. Bad part was it was my kid. HOWEVER, she NEVER did that again.

Thread drift i know, but i'm with iso, i don't think it's a real post anyway.

And Savannah, I so thought that too when i read tomservo's post! So, you beat me to it.

Just don't clutter up the working forums with lame threads. This topic has been done repeatedly. We sigh, jadedly, languid with ennui.

Go to your profile and enable your BBCode so your quote functions will work.

I LOVE the word 'ennui.'

It speaks volumes with such a small number of letters.

+1

Plus it has the, always, added advantage of having more vowels than consonants.

BMIR streams on the Interwebs for free all year round, it's pretty damn awesome.

BMIR is the BEST!!! There is nothing worse than having to work during Burning Man…..but, there is nothing better than listening to BMIR when you have to work during Burning Man……..there is one thing better……that’s listing to BMIR out on the playa………..

You Sir have obviously never experienced the wonder that is the Burning Life festival. (aka, the cyber regional burn) So many people to talk to, so many great art installations, and because of the medium some people are art.

The Virtual Burn has over 10,000 unique visitors every year from around the world in attendance. It is managed by loyal burners and follows the 10 principals. Before you pass judgement on something maybe you should know all the facts first.

I imagine as long as someone isn't sitting around at Burning Man looking at a website instead of participating, then I don't see a problem.

We're sitting around looking at ePlaya, what is the difference? I'm not going to be looking at this or other websites whilst at the burn.

Yep well some of us haveta... =D

Setting up the BURN2 Playa for 2010 during Burning Man. No rest for the wicked.

Its amazing that we can bring Burning Culture to those who cannot get to BRC using the virtual environment.

Two dimensions to this. One is people in a remote spot one week a year. Another is the overlapping set of people in the interested in the spot a week the year. Expecting massive connectivity is foolish, but financing a node on 447 fiber shouldn't be hard.

LOL! Brilliant. Priceless. I wish I had the nerve to do that.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

Meh, if somebody's immersed in their little electronic world, it's nothing more than an ironic laugh to me - it means one more person I don't have to share reality with! :)
