JoLo-- Remember, you're only a virgin once! Enjoy the sublime anticipation of your first Burn. "Relax" and enjoy it. "See ya on the Playa!"
DVD Burner you make a good point, that there can be Art in Sock puppetry, or as Zepher pointed out, not all socks are bad--it's in the use.
Honey: you ever been to the HS in Fish Lake Valley off 6 West near Tonopah? Great place to stop for a day (and night, or two...) to wash off the Playa crud (there's a hot shower rigged) and soak in HOT water, no shade on site but a GREAT place to decompress... I too am a H.S. junky!
:P
I thought "socks" and "plonking" were things and acts shared by concenting adults, but I'm sure there's a thread for that as well!
Has anyone thought about WHAT the high levels of arsenic found just South of BR or radioactive tailings from the copper mines might be contributing to the ground water we spray to keep the dust down? -POL

post subject springs.

Policons;
Thanks for the spring info. I've never heard of the springs you mentioned, but I'm going to check it out for sure... The last few trips to the playa we stayed over at Benton on hwy 6. Beatuiful place to stop half way
For those who dont know, you can get a spot with a shower and a spring for 10 bucks.
In regards to the quality of frog pond water, I dont see a problem. The water has a slight sulpher smell but it is full of plant and fish life. There is
mineral in the water that adheres to galvanized pipe and leaves a white discloration. I'm sure it is some kind of calcification, but I will look in to it.
If your familiar with the springs below hover let me know. I would like to check that out this summer......
Thanks Honey..........

Nah, the playa ain’t the eplaya, Daddy.

That said, I plan to arrive in a spirit of kindness, co-operation and good will. If you want to find me, just look for the guy who doesn't get it.

Ya-Ba, that’s the only spirit to arrive with.

As for Badger and allanon2, this is soooooo juicy, please say it ends in ThunderDome.

It will never happen, our boy rex has made it perfectly clear that he wouldn't sully himself by attending the event again.
(Besides which, Badger would cream him.)

SCA ain't the same as thunderdome, as you know if you've participated in both. It will help, of course, but who know what Badger's background is? I for one think a match like this would be worth seeing - maybe we should start a donation fund (off-playa & eplaya of course) for the express purpose of buying Allanon2 a ticket so we can be further amused  .

I'll kick in $10, who else? regards, Jafe

Sigh.

The 6th grade boy in me really, really wants to abet this bout, but I'll have to defer.

Jeezus... now I can't get the image out of my mind of SCAers in NV hammering suits of armor from salvaged Neon body panels...

Don't the larger SCA events draw in excess of 10,000 people? What do the grounds look like after those events? Where's the StopSCA web site?

A dear freind of mine does the SCA thing pretty heavily. Heavily enough that, after winning a multi-day fighting tournement and beating everyone (triple figures I think) he was crowned king of his region (western U.S. and NZ I think). I have heard many tales of the SCA and discussed thunderdome with him. First of all, the Penzic War <sp?> held annually on public land in Pennsylvania, absolutely wrecks the large campground they use. Over 5,000 people tramping around boozing, fighting, crafting, and littering. NOT an LNT event. Second, he feels that somone who only does SCA style fighting might have a slight advantage over the uninitiated in TD but that any athletic ability or other training would easily compensate. Also, if you have ever seen SCA folks fighting, you would know that most of them lie at either physical extreme of weight and are nothing like fit. Pasty white fantasy geeks in carpet armor with rattan sticks. Easy pickins for my 6'4" multiple black belt SCA geek friend.

I donate under the express understanding that the sequence of events is as follows.

1. A2 gets on playa
2. Thunderdome bout
3. A2 arrives at TOA and does serious A--to everyone who's had to suffer through his whiney self-righteous drivel.
4. A2 leaves playa.

That's a good afternoon. Do we comp him round trip flight SJ to Reno too?

Now that's a useful search function for a movie website.

I resent anyone with "Geek" written all over him in such large, such red letters calling us sheep. Or is it a desparate attempt to find someone lower than himself?

wellI am on the pliya the same day as the evnt

Postby allanon2 » Sun Apr 11, 2004 9:20 pm

no reason to comp me to get there. I always camp on the pliya at the same time AS BM. usualy at some hotspring or by steamboat.

maybe BMORG will allow me to visit thunderdome for a bout?

and no i dont lie at any extreme of weight or size
in fact i am only 6'2" and 165#'s but i can defend myself well.

and fo peopel sayign that SCA destrpys land.they use parks,
they pay tohave them reseeded if needed. they usualy use dusty fields in parks that have nothign groing on them. they pay for their sites well.

Might think twice about that.

Thunderdome pre-bout testing consists of a wet paper bag (w/ sharp knife optional).
