Hip and torso subjects?

Postby webbery » Fri Sep 12, 2003 12:00 pm

I'm the guy who was taking pictures of hips and torsos all week - I've posted my galleries at http://webbery.com/bm03.

I'd like to do a book of the torsos eventually, but there were a bunch of my willing subjects who I didn't get model releases from (shooting too fast, out of releases whatever). Hips too, from previous years.

If any of you are reading this and would like to take part in this book, please contact me at http://webbery.com/form.html and I'll send you a signed photo magnet for your trouble.

For everyone else, enjoy!

You look great in that picture, dammit. Joyful, beautiful and in the moment. Mind you, the two best pictures ever taken of me were 1) DMV, 1994 and 2) as an asleep three year old. Pretty much everything else since then has me looking like a grinning idiot or just plain "challenged."

Au contraire -- you look beautiful and alive! What more could you want from a picture?

Torso shots are great, as yours more-than-amply demonstrate, but your face shows more of who you are (eyes being the window of the soul and all that).

Embrace your face!

Stunning, beautiful, and the camera loves you....for good reason I might add. You photograph well. To me it shows a classic BM woman....a very beautiful one who fortunately was in the right place at the right time to be photographed.

Yep, you got me too. Though I'm dying to see if you got the full body shot. I was in a particular getup what you caught me and no one as yet has full body shots of me. Blast!!

There's something about that purple hair in the avatar pic that drives me wild....I wish I could explain it. Some people are just beautiful. Some of us need all the help we can get.

Now I'm just hoping no pix surface of me with my strawberry red hair, makeup, and sarongs.....I'll be the one saying NO, don't post that!

Flux, you didn't sneak off any secret shots of me walking around like that? I sure hope not!

Kinetic's first unofficial rule of BM: What happens in BRC stays in BRC. But if those pix got out, I know some femal impersonators here in KC like "Flo" and Melinda Ryder who would try to draft me into their drag shows. It's not something I want to contend with!

Thank you so much webbery! I was the one who did the Spirit paintings on Timber, butterfly, Whisper and Delectable in the group Photo you posted. I painted about 15 other ones that day too. We did get some pictures but none as nice as yours. I have admired your work for the last couple of years. THANK YOU for the spirit of the playa that you manage to capture so beautifully every year!

Is that group shot available as a print like the others on your site? I must have it. Until the burn last year I had only worked on canvas. Been trying to find a way to do the spirit paintings on bodies like I do at burning man here in LA. They are so transformational for people! Any ideas?

It's available for sure, but it's hardly the best of my images (low light, bad focus, blah composition, whatever) but if you want it, just call it "The Timber Group Shot."

There's body painting, and then there's what I saw posted above...I would love to have paint like that on me. Oh wow....so cool. I wish that was me in that pic. Outstanding, beautiful paint.

Why not? You're likely to need a whole new line of work any day now anyway, so I'd get started practicing your show R.F.N.

Why thank you Princess :)

Actually, I did get one shot that I took of myself during the Burn with the paint that came out REALLY well, but I'm happy to have the full body shot. Here's that one.

Not bad for holding the camera at arm's length, hey?

Olivia I must say your shots look great. I dig the outfit and the cutie in it.

The ones of Timber and the others with bodypaint are great too. Nice paint job.

Webbery - I didn't see your setup this year. I have looked at your website over the years though. It's a cool and unique approach. Where were you located? Curious, do you have your subjects stand on a marked spot on the ground so that you can get that uniform look to all the pictures?
