Hi Gaminwench! Yes, I understand. A certain percentage of the World's male population are creeps, and this is becoming the case in BRC also. How I wish it were not so.

But... If -- hypothetically -- if EVERYBODY went nude, there would be no novelty. That's how my minds thinks -- idealist that I am.

Figjam, that's a good idea. We don't need to be restricted to bicycle customers. We have beverages, and we are not afraid to serve them!

And Patsh, you can do it!

Hey there is nothing wrong with being a creep. Being a creep is only an infinitesimal step away from being a crepe and everyone loves to eat a good creep crepe!

I would appreciate it if the hammers were used to pound rebar into the playa and not used for pounding wood back into the deck.

And on that note, I think the closest I'll be to nude on the playa is somehow gaminwench conned me into getting a kilt, so I'll be following all the rules of kilt wearing, but I'm not sure the kilt will come off unless I'm out deep in the dark playa outback.

For some reason a "recommendation" fills me with fear and trepidation. Not to worry, I have my Scottish chastity belt securely fastened to my Pagen Pinto Playa Mobile and it only comes off when my BAC rises above 0.13:

"0.13-0.15 BAC: Gross motor impairment and lack of physical control. Blurred vision and major loss of balance. Euphoria is reduced and dysphoria (anxiety, restlessness) is beginning to appear. Judgment and perception are severely impaired."

"Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven..."

BTW, there is nothing wrong with a kilt inspection, everyone needs to keep on the up and up! :P

I've been swimming for exercise in an indoor pool at a local gym, and I am astonished at how shy or prudish some of the men are in the men's shower. Not all of course, but some -- they work up a big sweat in the gym, and then they shower with their shorts on. Too weird. Catholics, maybe? Poor fellows.

I'm not a Catholic, but I'm a momma's boy. I remember all those evenings being a pre-teen and momma caught me behind the filbert tree's reading OUI magazine... That's my entire life's story, just when I'm about to "finish" momma comes in and spoils the fun.

Sigh, thank god momma doesn't have a ticket to Caravansary 2014!!!

Elliot, you are referring to the 'towel dance'. It's a magical dance that allows the shy person to wrap a towel around their waist while in their gym clothes, then wriggle and squirm for about 45 seconds and emerge fully clothed and ready to leave. I'm not exactly sure where this fear of nudity comes from, but it seems to be debilitating to an entire generation.

Okay, I used to be a professional kite flyer in a previous earlier life. Those were magical moments on the sand, but silk and skin that's not something I'm too hip on, or have any experience with. I've done the whole tantric massage thing with skin and scarves and found it a bit frustrating more than anything. I turn blue just thinking about! :?

google
Department of Tethered Aviation for fun images of wind worship.
There's also a video (by someone not associated with the Dept) on Youtube.

This is a practice that was developed by DoTA in BRC.

Oh SHIT I think I have picked up a new/old hobby. I can't spend any more money!!! Ugh... Let me search the house for some of my old school foil kites (parafoil and flexfoil) and maybe a dragon kite or something.

I am telling myself right now, kowtow - you will just watch and enjoy this year... no more projects!

Unfortunately, DoTA won't be on the playa this year :cry:
so I'll be searching for tethered aviators to play with.

So why won't there by a DoTA on the playa this year? It seems like it can be art in motion. I used to take great pride in choreographing stunt kite presentations involving the sky, sand and water each time. I have some really old school stunt kites, a six-pack of rainbow stunt kites that I might bring.

Every day that I learn more about Burning Man, I'm amazed at what I can participte, offer or take away from it. Just awesome!

Oh, DoTA definitely makes sky/ground art; some of those kites were developed especially for the playa and its quirky wind conditions.
The fliers/worshipers would coordinate colors/styles well in advance, so that on any given day there was a 'curated' show.

DoTA voted, last year on playa, to skip this year and play in another location;
Org politics and lousy neighbor behavior figured heavily into the decision.

It's a shame, you'd have enjoyed meeting fellow kite pros out there;
they have soooo much fun making art in the sky with eachother.
