This is in fact in the statutes. They cannot lie about age: NRS 202.040

We don't "sell" alcohol, so that statute does not apply. This one does: NRS 202.055

people who bring young children to BM

Postby epic » Tue Nov 24, 2009 4:58 pm

Parents who bring young children to BM are the same ones that have their kid sleep in a crib in their room or in the parents bed and or nurse/bottle feed the kid until they are five years old. They are also exactly the same assholes who allow a kid to scream and cry for an hour in an R rated movie or in a restaurant.

I find it interesting that there are message board toolbags everywhere. I frequent my college sports message board; that place is FULL of morons.

I used to frequent the Coachella message board. Bunch of music snobs calling everyone with an opinion different from their own names.

I'd have thought that the number of tools at a message board for an event that promotes freedom, expression and other high standards like Leave No Trace would be lower. I guess for the most part that number is lower here, although I'm new and can't fully attest to that yet.

Sadly, there are small people everywhere. You just can't escape them.

Damned shame.

EDIT: by small people, I don't mean children.

What I really look forward to is, what will the kids who do grow up out there what will they do? Its such an amazing environment for the imagination, what will they think of. The art, the science, the engineering, the way we interact with each other. Such an amazing place.

Yeah Epically annoying one, I guess I am selfish in that I want to live vicariously through the wonder and joy that my 7 year old son experiences when he see's something totally cool on the playa.

He obviously hated climbing the dome made out of bats and baseballs this year. He obviously hated checking out Goathead making stones out of playa dust and water. He obviously hated checking out all the art cars, especially the ones with fire effects. Oh, and he also hated the ball jump thingy in Kidsville this year as well. Yep. The kid was just a wretched miserable dude man the whole burn

And his selfish parents also dragged him to Lakes of Fire this year where he hated making friends with another little dudeman, riding a "monster car" and playing putt putt golf.

Odd then that he keeps asking me when are we going back to the "beach".

I See The synopsis: Dude on the Playa Looking to get laid, starts schmoozing on bunny, and out of no where litle tyke wanders by, does something adorable, bunny says "Awww how cute...." and duders wiener goes south, infuriated he blurts out major random dumbness and causes himself a failure to score. he's mad, he's so mad he remembers it for a year or two., till he sees a thread on eplaya about banning kids. he flys into a rage, flames everyone in the thread, and racks his posting score up. every one laughs and has a good time.

I have checked in on this thread from time to time. I have not posted a lot, but I certainly read quite a bit on the forums here. I went to BM in 2008 and I am planning to go again this year. Before I went, I had a pre-conceived notion that it was not a place for kids in any way, shape or form. While I was there, I felt a little uncomfortable at first. Not from anything that I was doing or witnessing by others, but just the general feeling or "idea" of it all. By the end of the week, I realized that it was all on me. Impressing your own experiences and ideology upon others in no way allows someone to judge others and their actions. I went there with a particular idea of what I was looking for and left with something else. BM is without question a place for understanding and acceptance. To each his own. It means something different to every single person that attends. If people want to bring their kids, and they understand that there are definitely areas and experiences that may not be "kid friendly", then that onus falls squarely on the shoulders of the parents that brought them. Parents (I would think) are not bringing their children in order to have some moral barometer influence the actions of others. It is all about sharing an experience and it is up to them to guide their children, not the community who is participating.

I may have rambled a bit there...but I hope my point is well taken.

See you later this year! Can't wait!

I think I might have already offered this up, but the first year I went, I didn't think it was a place for kids, then I changed my mind.

Wow this thread put me on an emotional roller coaster. I read the whole thing in one go. I am a mother. I have a 5 year old daughter. I will not yet bring her to the playa because I am not that responsible and she isn't that good at listening to me. She is a 14 year old in a small childs body.
I do not have issues with anyone bringing their child out there as long as they are taking care of them.
I do not believe that children really affect the way that the LEOs will write up citations for nudidty and the like.
Just MHO and I have no facts to back this up whatsoever. :P
